    Pod Replacement on a 232?

I've heard of filling with ping pong balls to displace the water that is getting in.

Unfortunately I dont have the command link hub (which allows nmea or j19139 connection). I also havent a need for NMEA network yet either.

Both are options on my plotter. I dont think i can try the j1939 method direct form engine to plotter, sounds like it has to be engine-commandlink bus bar- plotter (which i dont have). The NMEA can go direct to the engine via backbone. However research indicates some 2005s have the wiring, but...

I have a 2005 F225, has the connector. Maybe ill buy some things and try it...really just want fuel burn numbers so i had planned on putting the garmin flow sensor in when i found free time.

Some engines in that year can do it...some cant (at least thats what my research tells me). I have not had the balls to buy everything for mine and find out if it works, would be happy to just run it to the chartplotter via NMEA if i knew it would work.

    Has anyone installed a 12" Garmin - GPSMAP 1242xsv in a 228?

I wish i had gone with an 8610. would have been a much easier install and id have a killer airmar hanging off the back of my boat.

What year 228? Makes a big difference, my 1997 dash is not well suited to a 1243xsv. I built an "gaudy" marine plywood box to house it. Managed to not cut any glass, just moved it away from the original glass. The newer dash panels are easier as posted above.

Finally learned why people don't like the 228 swim platform

I use my tabs all the time, balance the boat (always have an odd number of people) and keep the nose down. I try not to use the leg to drop the nose unless i really need too. Today we had a odd wind and current so i used the tabs to level off. i wish i had bigger tabs like lucky does.

Following sea, no tabs for me! In a big following sea Keep the bow high or it will bow steer, most Grady's will do it. The older 228s with half swim platforms are ladder style, so no lift there.

Lithium Battery & Airconditioning Setup on a Marlin 300

Absolutely, going with a 12v/24v DC air conditioner unit is more efficient if that is the primary way it will be powered. If you going to use it at the dock primarily and plugged in all the time then go with a more standard 120v AC AC unit and an inverter while running it while off the dock...

Ping Pong ball flow max scuppers

I like the idea of the spacer set up glued to the hull. Seems like the best way to get ping pongs on bronze thru hulls. Also like the twist off idea, i take mine off when its on the trailer for extended periods so they don't block up when washing the boat.

Ping Pong ball flow max scuppers

TH marine makes an inline ping pong style check valve, would be installed in the drain line between the scupper and deck drain. Pretty sure someone makes a deck drain with the check valve built in. I ended up putting a new plastic thru hull in because i could not get a bronze one locally, let...

    228 is a beauty

You really gotta find a screamin deal south of the border. There an 1992 with recent power but no hardtop (has radar tower and radar) for 49000. Id expect to pay around 70k for anything in the 2000s around here.

    228 is a beauty

I was 57 feet when i hauled mine from nanaimo to vancouver. Truck is 22.25 feet, add a 8 inches for the hitch makes it 23. So mine is 34 feet on my trailer. The trailer tongue is pretty long, I debated shortening the tongue decided I like the length at the launch and am willing to eat the cost...
