first I've heard of twins on a 228. i imagine the stern on that boat sat low. check scuppers and deck. also, this might be different on the earlier versions, but my 2005 228 can't hold 2 outboards on the bracket. Made for single engine application.

Looking at SIMRAD NSS Evo3 for my 228. I want it to go in the glovebox/electronics box built into the helm. Do you think a NSS9 unit will fit in there? Dimensions: 10 15/16"W x 6 7/16"H x 4 3/16"D. Boat is stored for winter or I would measure. Appreciate it!

so, it turns out that west marine has a handy-dandy plunger winterizing tool that has a threaded attachment in the plunger section that you hook your tank of antifreeze to, and a height-adjustable handle setup. I only had one day to get the boat winterized, so I wussed out and bought it. Here...

I just hung a suzuki 250 on my 2005 228. I would argue that it is the best combination of value, performance, efficiency, and power. I could have chosen any motor, and I've previously owned all of them, except for honda.

I recently sold my 1993 208 that was repowered in 2007 with the 200 etec small block motor. Perfect match. Scuppers not under. Excellent power and very fuel efficient. great combination. I didn't have a hard top, but the way that motor performed, the added weight would not have been a problem...
