    Bottom Paint Performance Question:

I researched for quite a while before settling on the Petit Vivid, one reason being that it seemed to be a smoother, harder paint than a lot of the others. It does require a barrier coat to be applied first, but that wasn't a big deal. Yes, I would still wipe down certain areas. The vast...

    Bottom Paint Performance Question:

When I bottom painted my 226 last year with Petit Vivid, I actually noticed an overal improvement in performance. I kept it wet slipped in fresh water, and even with frequent use and wipe downs at the beach, you would still get some growth that would slow you down quite a bit by end of season...

    Prospective buyers

Honestly it's older than that. That looks mid to late 80's. Check the transom out, but if it's solid I would imagine that same price point. If you are picking it up for $7k and everything checks out, that's not a bad deal at all.

Why are Grady's so popular in eastern Long Island and what is it like in your area?

South end of Lake Michigan here. Closest dealer is about 8 hours away, and I think that plays into why you see very, very few of them. I have only seen one other Grady this season on the lake, and that was another older one at the beach about 22 miles from home port. There are more Albemarles...

Seafarer 226 prop size with 200hp 2 stroke

Not a 200, but I have a 175 Mercury 2-stroke on my '93 226. Running a mercury vengeance 14.5 x17p stainless prop, I can almost squeek out 40mph with full fuel, Bimini top deployed, ready to fish with 3 people on the boat and a 4 stroke kicker. When i say almost 40, I mean 39.7mph on the GPS...

    Puck marks in hull

Sounds like it had blistered and wasn't repaired all that well. Most likely was a wet slipped boat.

    Looking at 228 or 258

How many downriggers are you looking to run? I have 4 on my 226 with a kicker, two off the back and two off the side, one just extends over the kicker. Can't speak specific about the 258, but I have a friend with a triton with twin 175's, and he struggles to go slow enough at times. Last I...

    Kicker on a 228.

Electric tilt is worth its weight, I love it. Something you can look into as well, is a trollmaster throttle control. I have my electric start and tilt/trim control at the helm, and instead of a biacle and cables, I just shift it at the transom, and use the trollmaster to control the throttle...

    Kicker on a 228.

I run an older Yamaha T8 on my 226, and that's about as small as I'd go. The T8 great, as it does swing a bigger prop and is geared differently than a regular 8. Any of the high thrust 9.9's or up will do well.

New guy here with a few questions about a 228 Seafarer

Wont find very many seafarers with twins, especially not with a bracket. I want to say the extra wide notched transom for twins stopped in '92, the last year before the transition to the new SeaVee2 hull design. Most of the new 4 strokes will idle down enough to troll for kings, i use a kicker...

    Goodbye ETEC

It's a sad day, but to be honest I see this as just the beginning. Many companies in this industry will go through massive changes, if they manage to survive at all through this.

    Lake Erie trip

That's quite the hatch! It was one of the big reasons we would go in the beginning of July, to miss that.

    Lake Erie trip

Great haul! I have been reading that the walleye fishing may be the best it's ever been there right now, it's been about close to 20 years since I fished there, would love to go back. What was the hot color?

Check your live well overflow 226 208 and others

When I replaced my thru hulls there this spring I was shocked at how loose everything was for those fittings. Granted my Seafarer is a '93, but still, the hose clamps were all just finger tight. Didn't even need a screwdriver to remove them
