    282 trim tab Reservoir location

Remove the plastic panel at the back of the extra bearth located at the bottom of the steps below the healm seats. The pump and reservoir are a single unit mounted in that space together with the waste storage tank.

    Tow Vehicle for Larger Boats

Good question. I don't expect there will be much of anything but flat highway driving. Most of the time I'd use the boat I expect it would be under 100 miles round trip, and I wouldn't be a heavy user. Maybe a couple times a month average. Throw in a long tirp of a couple hundred miles once...

    Tow Vehicle for Larger Boats

Hi I'm in the process of getting a trailer for my 282 and wanted to know if people had feedback on the type of truck that would comfortably tow that size boat, and also if a dually rear axle would work much better. I have an F-350 with a V-10 and am thinking about switching it for a diesel...

    Rod Storage ?

The hinges can be purchased from www.mcmastercarr.com and are part numbers 1151A82 for the right hand hings and 1151A81 for the left hand hings. They cost around $4.74 per hinge and you need two of each if its set up like mine. The hinges are supplied unfinished so you need a buffing or...

    Rod Storage ?

I have a set of rod holders that came from Grady in my '02 282. They work OK for up to 6 rods up to 7" long and are hinged to fold out of the way. The way the dealer mounted the rear holder looks correct but it does limit the port side window opening somewhat. They also take up a good amont...

Trailer Axles - leaf spring vs. torsion bar

Thanks everyone for your informed replies. I appreciate your input very much. I think I'm going to go with the torsion bar setup. Paul

Trailer Axles - leaf spring vs. torsion bar

I'm going to go ahead and order a trailer for my '02 282 and wondered if there's any advantage or disadvantage between leaf spring or torsion bar axles I should consider. Trailer will see mostly saltwater use. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks

    Trailering with canvas in place

Is it OK to trailer a 282 or any grady with the canvas in place? I assume no, but thought I’d ask. I've seen boats on trailers with the canvas in place and assumed if this would eventually lead to damage.

    Boat Transport

I did the same trip with the same boat but didn't have my own trailer and used Interstate Haulers. The driver was Doug Howard who was excellent and I would request him again if I ever did another move. He was right on time at the designated meeting place on both coasts and he even parked under...

New Sailfish owner with a handling question.

Hi Ron, I have an '02 282 so I'm guessing the ride is similar. What you described is not too far off normal. The deep V hull cuts into the waves coming at the bow very well but can 'dig into' and steer in following seas pushing the bow from side to side as the waves pass. Especially if the...

    Trailer - Galvanized or Aluminum?

I'm looking at trailer options for my '02 282 and see many good looking manufacturers out there with lots of nice options. The options are fairly easy to sort through but the one big question I can't seem to find info about are the pro's and con's of going with an aluminum or galvanized...

Trailer Manufacturers and Options to Consider for a 282

I’m looking to put my ’02 282 on a trailer and wanted any feedback on trailer manufacturers and options people have used or purchased that they either like or don’t’ like. I looked and Loadmaster and Pacific and they looked comparable to me. I’m also wondering about the benefits or...
