I regularly fish on a 2006 journey 258 with twin yamaha 150's and it is fantastic. It will still get on step with one engine with some gentle coaxing. I can not imagine not having twins on that model.

Take a look at the Burnewiin rod mounts and rail mount options, they are the best in the business.

Check the Burnewiin website, they have great rail mount systems that work really well.

I have not driven the 226 at all, but the 228 in following seas is definitely not a problem. I run in with a following sea every trip here in Oregon and have never had an issue.

The standards are 30 degree, but one of the best upgrades I have done to my 228 was to put Burnewiin rod holders on my boat. Check them out, I do not know anyone who regrets their purchase.
