    Summer storage

Having enjoyed using my 208 in FL all winter, I think I am going to leave it here rather than move it back to Maine this summer. My plan is to leave it on the lift, and I have bought a cover that will cover the whole boat. I am most worried about mildew in the cabin. I plan on removing all the...

Richard Pratt at Crockers is one of the good guys, a real straight shooter. Hope he lands on his feet, wish I had a job for him working for me. Jim

    Boat Graphics Removal

Any good size auto parts store can get you an eraser wheel from 3M. I dont recall the exact name of it, but we use them often to remove the decals from truck doors. Its quite safe if you run them slow in a cordless drill, its kind of a rubbery wheel that rubs the vinyl graphics off. They wear...

No wonder dealers are going out of business

I would call Crockers Marine in Wilmington NC and talk to Richard Pratt. He will not only return your calls, he goes above and beyond to make sure you are happy with the sale. I live in Maine and bought a used Seafarer 228G sight unseen, it was all he said and more. A great guy and a straight...

    Sticker Removal

The key to using the water/soap is not to use too much soap. Just a few drops in the spray bottle. And a good squeege. Dont worry too much about remaining water behind the decal, it seems to dissapear after a couple days. Works on any stripe or decal Jim

    Sticker Removal

Any sticker or decal is much easier to apply if you take a spray bottle filled with water, and put 6 or 8 drops of Ivory soap, or Tide liquid detergent, and wet down the area where you want to put the decal. This will allow you to move it around a bit. Take a squeege and squeeze out the water...

    Adventure v Overnighter

Ive not fished in a overnighter, but have had a couple Adventures. Basic differences are the SeaV2 hull after 92? cant remember the year. Rounded windshield frames after 97 or so, no fake a teak for cabin trim, redesigned cuddy doors after 98 or so. Gradywhite.com has a really good year by...

    Downrigger in South Texas

Roland: I am loath to drill holes in such nice boat. Sure sometimes you gotta for outriggers, electronics or such. I just hate to mount stuff permanantly on the top of the gunnels. On my old 208, I used a gimbal mount from Cannon to hold the downrigger. You can use it in any rodholder...

    Boat Models

Anybody know of a company that makes desktop size boat models? Id like to have a small one of my Grady to put on the desk. There are several companies that do airplanes and cars, but havent seen any boat ones yet. Thanks Jim

    Boat Transport: Quality Drive-Away

I use a guy out of Sebastian FL, Jim Burrell Transport. He is a great guy and fair. He's hauled me a couple boats, and a heavy farm equip across the country. I know this week he is moving a snowbird doctors grady from FL to CT. Routinely hauls from Baltimore to Vancouver. His rate is usually...
