    2001 grady 208 adventure

I did a similar thing last year, see below. You’ll find a lot of Seafarer owners who have done this - I know from having researched it a lot. I didn’t come across as many 208 modifications but I think dash layout is pretty similar so no reason you couldn’t. Best of luck!

    raymarine quantum wireless radar

I plan on installing the Wifi radar to go with my Axiom MFD this spring. On my boat, I have an open tap in the overhead radio box fuse / distribution block, so all I'll need to do is run power wire from Radar through hardtop and power it there - maybe 3 feet total. Then I'll add a toggle...

2005 226 upgrade Nav and cockpit lights

I replaced all the bulbs in a ‘04 Seafarer with LED last year and they’ve been great. No issues with spectrum or anything like that. I even got a red one for the cockpit overhead light to replace the white one with a red rubber band around it that they shipped from the factory. See receipt below...

    Just Repowered My 1999 228G with a Suzuki DF250

Harbor Isle Marine down by JFK. Tom there was great and even came to pick boat up in CT with a trailer for very modest fee. I haven’t been more than 15-20 miles out. I run boat from CT up to Martha’s Vineyard for the summer and the shot from Block Island across to MV is pretty exposed although...

    Just Repowered My 1999 228G with a Suzuki DF250

As a comparison, I have an '04 Seafarer 226 (i.e. without the Grady bracket), so similar to a 208, just a little longer / heavier. I re-powered from a 200 HPDI (original to boat) to a DF200a this fall. With the HPDI, the boat would cruise around 30mph at 4k RPM doing just over 2mpg (hard top...

    Canvas help needed

I replaced all the glass in mine recently but reused the canvas as it was still in fine shape. Was a little over 1000. To completely redo I would imagine is at least 2x that. There is a good shop in CT that does a lot of Grady work.

    Roughest Seas You’ve Endured - Seafarer 228?

When I bought my 226 from marina near Boston I asked if I was crazy to try and run it the 200 miles South to NYC in late October. The marina owner who has been selling Gradys for 30 years joked, "you'll break long before that boat does". Completely true. My experience has always been its...

Good point. That would help. It’s in Connecticut. But I have an accepted bid that’s pending closing. Thanks though.

Seafarer - hard top electronics box for tackle storage?

Has anyone come up with a good system for tackle storage in the electronics box built into hard top? I have VHF in the right hand side above helm, but the left box is completely open and seems like a good place to do tackle storage (out of the way, but accessible and dry / secure). My thought...

    226 Discontinued??

Well, bringing this thread back to life, it looks like they've discontinued the 228 as well now. So just 208 and 232, no more Seafarer line. They've had a Seafarer for as far back as I can tell. Seems like a big move for Grady but as someone pointed out, maybe they come up with some sort of...

    2005 seafarer flush mount

Wow, you're right! Crazy as I just looked at the website a few weeks back when I was doing dash project to see if they still had the compartment in new boats and they were there. So just in last week or two. Seems odd as Seafarers are some of the hardest models to find in used market - they're...

    2005 seafarer flush mount

I like it. I opted to eliminate the fold up door and just do a permanent flush mount with a sheet of black acrylic I had made online. Just need to get the Grady colored gelcoat patch kit to cover the screw holes. You'd think Grady would see all these owners refitting the dashes and stop...

    Updated,,,,,,228 flush mount prep

I'm mid way through the same project on a 226. Instead of mounting over the cutout, I tried fitting a piece of Acrylic dash inside the shape. Worked well, now just need to fill the old screw holes, which I've found Spectrum makes a gel coat repair kit in Grady color. So hopefully that and a...
