You nailed it - broken flange from battery selector switch. Can't imagine how it got there - those switches are separated from the bilge by a bulkhead. Gotta be from the PO.

I pulled the zerks and pumped grease through both of them before considering pulling the bearing carriers. Believe me, I would rather not pull them, but I'd rather do it now than wait a few more years and wish I'd done it now.
