    Engine Box Insulation/Sound Proofing

Thx guys... I did look at Sounddown... I ended up going with a similar product from American Micro Industries with a PSA backer and I will use clips.... $150 for everything shipped to my house.

    Engine Box Insulation/Sound Proofing

I am considering putting in some sound proofing inside the engine box on my 25 Sailfish. The 470's can get pretty loud. Does anyone have any experience with this? I have found several options with a PSA backer that is temperature rated up to 500 degrees.

Fuel Tank material for 265 Express and 232 Gulfstream

It really depends upon usage...saltwater boats can be borrowed time after 10 years. My 86 sailfish is still OEMbut us freshwater and should be fine indefinitely.

Fuel Tank material for 265 Express and 232 Gulfstream

Looking at purchasing 2002-2004 Model year 265 Express or 232 Gulfstream with a pair of F4's in the coming year for Lake Ontario Salmon fishing, but I wanted to know if either of these models have poly tanks or if they were still aluminum?

2004 Gulfstream addition of a kicker

Completely agree with the pro/con list. My main stumbling point is, investing in it and the F225 not working out for trolling very well and not having the ability to fit a kicker on this boat due to the configuration.

2004 Gulfstream addition of a kicker

Looking at a used one with a single Yami F225, I slow troll for salmon on Lake O. I love this platform and would be replacing my 1986 Sailfish with this boat. Boat is a bit underpowered with that standard engine but is serviceable, but I am concerned about putting many <1000 rpm trolling hours...

Spiders: How do you control them?

I spray my docklines and the dock every other week with Ortho Home Defense, also I wipe down my hardtop rails and other areas on the boat with the Ortho monthly. I usually have a web or two, but very minimal. I have gone thru these lengths after experiencing the type of infestation you are...

    Sailfish hardtop question

Gradywhiteman, I would not say anything earth shattering or unexpected for boats of that age. But in particular with I/O versions, transom rot is a distinct possibility. I have not seen it on mine, but it has been well maintained. The fuel fill and vent lines are a bit of a bear to replace...

    Sailfish hardtop question

I do not believe that Grady was offering the 488's on the Sailfish only the 470's, so if they are 488's they were probably dropped in after the fact.

    Sailfish hardtop question

Think you got most of the 470 quirks covered... only addition to the closed cooling system would be the front seals which are a bear to deal with but at least the cooolant weep hole gives you the clue that the first seal has failed and service is needed. The shift interrupt switches are a less...

    Sailfish hardtop question

Hey guys, Still original power Twin 470's circa 1986... probably have in the neighborhood of 3000 hours per engine, most of which is trolling hours at 800-1000 rpm on Lake Ontario. I have a pair of stainless props, cruise at 3400-3500 rpm and about 24-25 knots, I believe top rpm is about 4400...
