    Starboard Source?

Let me see if I can dumb it down dor you: Bang cap is 1/16" thick. Shims are 3/32" thick, moving the motors off the bang plate with 1/32" clearance. I was not looking to have the shims cut for me, I simply noted it is a service they offered. I bought the material and have cut my own shims...

    Bang Cap vs. Bracket

I'm going with Trapper's logic. Ordered some 3/16" and will make shims. That should hold the brackets off the 1/16" bang plate just enough for a caulk barrior. Will update again when done!

    Starboard Source?

Well, I ended up on Amazon of all places... Went up to 3/32" to give a bit of a gap between the different metals which I will fill with sealant... Jamestown was a no-go. Not thin enough. McMaster, interestingly enough, would custom cut shims for me but I would have to submit a pattern...

    Bang Cap vs. Bracket

I replaced my Bang Cap with 1/16" Stainless while I had the motors off. The brackets did mash down against the old aluminum Bang Cap,and there was some corrosion but not really bad. I dry fitted the brackets before caulking, and the gap is noticable. I haven't cranked the bolts hard yet, just...

    'Ducer wire thru transom.

Right, fuel hose was sacrificial, a mold if you will. I did not want to epoxy the wire in there because this boat will get all new electronics in a year or two and this wire may or may not come out. Yes, the screw holes were treated...

    'Ducer wire thru transom.

Dunno if this is how y'all do it, but I looked at another wire going through the transom and didn't trust its seal integrity. For a new install, I hated drilling that huge hole to feed the transducer connector through. So, I slit a piece of fuel hose, waxed it, put it on the 'ducer wire, then...

    Re-mounting motors, need torque value?

Update: I decided to run the bolts out with the impact, epoxy & re-drill all the holes, seal with 4200, and torque to 50 foot pounds. I also bought upper support braces that came last night. Now all I need is for this rain to stop! I did get the bang cap done though...

    Re-mounting motors, need torque value?

2004 GW 282 Sailfish; going to start putting things back together, finally! Is there a torque specification for the bolts mounting the bracket to the transom, or do you crank on them until you can't get any more? My bottom bolts are 'stuck' in the transom. They are not coming out without some...
