Let me see if I can dumb it down dor you: Bang cap is 1/16" thick. Shims are 3/32" thick, moving the motors off the bang plate with 1/32" clearance. I was not looking to have the shims cut for me, I simply noted it is a service they offered. I bought the material and have cut my own shims...

I'm going with Trapper's logic. Ordered some 3/16" and will make shims. That should hold the brackets off the 1/16" bang plate just enough for a caulk barrior. Will update again when done!

Well, I ended up on Amazon of all places... Went up to 3/32" to give a bit of a gap between the different metals which I will fill with sealant... Jamestown was a no-go. Not thin enough. McMaster, interestingly enough, would custom cut shims for me but I would have to submit a pattern...

Update: I decided to run the bolts out with the impact, epoxy & re-drill all the holes, seal with 4200, and torque to 50 foot pounds. I also bought upper support braces that came last night. Now all I need is for this rain to stop! I did get the bang cap done though...

How did this turn out for you? I just used epoxy to repair mine, and bought 1/16" 316 SS Angle to replace the corroded aluminum. How did yours hold up for the past 3 years?

Mine does not get in the way of fishing, even when trolling 6 lines. Flying it is more important than a little inconvenience to me...
