    Transducer Mounting

Dennis The first mount which is shown and had to be abandoned was due a chine built into the hull of the boat which did not go all of the way to the transom. In fact it stopped abruptly at about 8' back from the bow and created bubbles when on plane that interfered with the readout of the...

    Transducer Mounting

NO HOLE IN THE TRANSOM! This block of Plastic? is attached to the transom with tape made by 3M Company. Been there for 8 months! No problem. Had to buy a second one as the first on which you can see to the right would not allow the tranducer to read at full throttle. This is a 1988 228G...

    Transducer Mounting

I bought a 3'x3" white plastic pad on the internet that has a 3M piece of Tape that sticks onto the hull. I have a new side scan etc Garmin long transducer and it works perfectly No screws in the transom under the water line. This is totally different, although the white piece looks similar...

    Near disaster averted by mechanic

I feel sure Brian Burns adjusted the richness in the computer and set the plugs at the proper angle. I feel the same as you as I could see unburned oil residue on the foot after running it. The 2 bolts cost $65.00! The rubber damper part cost $350.00! I gladly paid it.Plus the labor! It took...

    Near disaster averted by mechanic

Brian Burns is the best Evinrude mechanic on the Georgia Coast. Thank God he has a son Jack who works with him in the business. The mechanic that found the problem services only Yamaha and Suzuki outboards. He will not touch anything else. Maybe a Mercury that was manufactured by Yamaha for a...

    Near disaster averted by mechanic

I had no clue that it was about to fall off. Put 50 hours on it before we found the problem! I am just so thankful that it stayed on the boat! It did bump around when in reverse. Thank God I never put the hammer down in reverse. But I did many times going forward.

Converting a Bimini top Seafarer to a Hard Top

It does not Feel like Balsa core! It is heavy! Maybe waterlogged from being submerged for several days or weeks. I will heed your advice. Thanks for the heads up. Do you think they were balsa cored back in the late 80's?

    Near disaster averted by mechanic

Bought a 1988 Grady 22' Seafarer with a 2003 Evinrude Ficht 225 HP in April 2019. Had 49 hours on it and ran and started really good. I put 50 hours on it this past Summer venturing 10-12 miles offshore of Georgia. Had to have rear bilge pump replaced and farmed out that task to my local...

Converting a Bimini top Seafarer to a Hard Top

Thanks. I was lucky to find a match for my boat which is a 1988 model! I had estimates of $8,000 to build one from scratch!

Converting a Bimini top Seafarer to a Hard Top

Here are some more pictures. The "feet" on the rear support poles swivel. The original rear supports curved in and did not go all the way to the top of the fish box.

Converting a Bimini top Seafarer to a Hard Top

Grady White owner down on the St Johns River South of Jax had his blown off the dock lift during a Hurricane event. He found it by walking on the river bottom. Was just about to take it to the scrap yard when he saw my ad. There was a Cobra VHF radio in the electronic box that still lights...

Converting a Bimini top Seafarer to a Hard Top

I did it with a little help from my friends. Searched long and hard for a salvageable hardtop off of a Grady White 22' Seafarer and found one. The rear legs were broken off just underneath the point where the two supports are welded. The front feet or landing pads were left on the sunken boat...

    Hard Top or Bimini

If you get a Seafarer with a hard top I will buy it! The foot print to hide is minimal.

    Older Grady Electrical Problems

I read your review at Amazon and think that what you suggested does make a lot of sense. This block is very similar to what came on the 1988 Grady White to begin with. Wouldn't the Blue Seas version make more sense since it uses the Blade type fuses rather than Glass fuses? $14 more but maybe...

    Older Grady Electrical Problems

Thank you for you answer. I took many pictures but could not determine this fact which you have pointed out that they are on the same panel but not connected. I think there are only 2 screws holding this glass fuse panel and negative buss bar onto the piece of plywood behind the steering...

    Older Grady Electrical Problems

I have my new to me 1988 Seafarer 228 for only 3 months and finally getting the electrical problems solved. The boat was repowered with a 2003 Evinrude 225 and all of those electrical systems work fine. Lights, pumps, etc which are controlled by the switch panel are where the problems have...

Drop in trays or boxes under aft seats

I just bought this boat but I think I remember a GW 1987 26 walk around that had them. Seems logical for a tray to b put in here for storage.
