    Sailfish Handling

Inboards are better in reverse than outboards for the following reasons 1) they are set further apart thus giving better handling when the engines are in the f and r positions for maneuverability and 2) the exhaust from the motor comes out thru the prop. In forward the exhaust gas is pushed away...

1997 Johnson hard starting after sitting 3 weeks

I had Johnsons 175's carb engins on my old 252 GW Sailfish. They were hard to statt after sitting overnight, just as hard starying after a week or more. I just got used to it and made very sure that my batteries were in tip top shape. I purchased solar cell battery charger/maintainers from...

does anybody know a good/fair priced outboard mechanic in oc

I don't know if you are in OC NJ. or Md. If you are in NJ, call Kieth or Corky at Campbells New Generatuion in Sommerspoint NJ. They treated me like family, maybe even a little bit better. In addition to replacing my motors they repaired several other problems that I didn't know about including...

Adding Sting Ray fins to 200 hp HPDI Grady 272

The boat does trim up with the engin trim and the trim tabs, but it takes 15 to 20 seconds to start to bring the bow down. My real question is will the Sting Ray fins help to trim the boat quicker or keep the stern from digging in so deeply? I can't see over the bow when the bow is so high. Marty

    ENGINE SURGING

I have seen the same surging -RPM jumps up 1200 to 1500 rpm then settles down, but only in rough seas at high RPMs. If the water gets shallow around the prop it can suck in air or the exhaust througe the prop can build up an exhaust bubble around prop if it digs in to deep thus causing the prop...

    1999 OMC Ficht 175

I had twin 1999 175 hp fichts on my old 25 sailfish when I bought it. I got less than 40 hours on them when they died. They were replaced by OMC. The new engins lasted about the same time. Omc then told me that they would no longer help me and that the engine failure was my fault. I repowered...

    Pompanette Chairs on 282

I have the 272 with the same issue. I simply removed the right side arm rest from the port seat. It made a big difference in accessing the cabin/ Marty :)

Adding Sting Ray fins to 200 hp HPDI Grady 272

I am a new member with a 1995 GRADY 272 Sail Fish with the step hull configuration. I just replaced the old OX66 200's with 0 factory rebuilt 0 hour 200 HPDIs. The boat is now about 9 + miles per hour faster. When I give the engines fuel quickly the bow comes up high and stays up for for 15 to...

    What should I do?

what should I do If it were me I would talk to the sales manager and give them the opportunity to come to some sort of understanding to make you happy. If the sales co. refuses to cooperate then you can file a formal complaint, with a lawyer, the Better Buisness B in your area or contact the...
