    Folding motor dam removal question

I have to finish filling holes on the inside of the transom, painting the bilge, and installing new bilge pump, switch and hose, reseal the deck seams, new transom cap, new scuppers and hose, new flared brass motor well drains, install new leaning post, and then I should be ready to do it. I...

    Folding motor dam removal question

I know this is an old post but I'm hoping to rekindle this discussion of modifying the motor well dam on '90s Grady Whites. I have a 1993 209 Escape and that damn dam is always in the way as it needs to stay down during launching and trailering when you need to tilt the motor, or I am paranoid...

    Transom cap (bang plate) replacement

That’s cool. I like the idea but I’ve already got a kicker and want to keep transom weight down (and my costs). Probably going to make some sort of spacer.

    Transom cap (bang plate) replacement

I had the same thought about a plate spacer between the engine and transom to prevent crunching the bang plate when tightening down the motor mount bolts. Have others done this?

    Tow Vehicles

Factory tow package on 2013 Dodge Durango V6. Very good match for my 209.

    No Boating

I’m here in N.H. too still grinding away on the winter boat project. Should all be done in a few weeks and hoping to run her around and maybe catch some flounder. If I could get in the water early May I’d be happy. Hoping for the best for everybody.

    HF pressure washer

I used to have a gas pressure washer and when it died I bought the Sunjoe SPX200 from Walmart: Sunjoe SPX2000 Similar to drbatts it's not quite as powerful but super easy to use and zero maintenance.

    Depressed? Think pleasant thoughts.

I too look forward to posts on this site to keep me motivated and kill the boredom. Thank you all for your involvement. Here's a pic I took out of Rye Harbor, NH one early morning a few summers ago. Days like this will be here soon.

    Transom cap (bang plate) replacement

Doing mine too on my '93 Escape 209. Luckily I have a chain hoist in my garage and pulling the engine off from it's lift point is pretty easy. I left all the hoses and wires attached and have about 18" of work space with the motor hanging in the air. Looks like Grady used a hard type of epoxy...

    1993 GW 209 Rehab

Thanks. I decided to leave them where they are but glassed over the two unused holes. I beveled the topside 12:1 and the bottom closer to 6:1 so the hole was completely sealed over from both sides. I used biaxial fabric and through a few extra layers on the topside for good measure, reinstalled...

Sportsman 18 115 HP Yamaha - Should I be Concerned?

I have a 150 hp 2-stroke on the larger, heavier 209 which is more than enough for what I want to do (fishing, towing the kids on tubes, cruising). That 115 engine should be fine on the 18' boat and be pretty efficient on gas too, although I do not have first hand knowledge. I had a Yamaha F150...

    1993 GW 209 Rehab

Last year I bought a 1993 Grady White 209 from the original owner and I’ve been rehabbing it over the winter. I’m at the point where I need some advice. I’ve replaced all the hoses and through hulls, am replacing and resealing the aluminum transom cap, recaulking seems, replacing inspection...

    208 Windlass?

Agreed. I'm going to service the windlass and when I put it back together through bolt the lid.

    208 Windlass?

Couple more pics. Looks like they added inspection plates for some reason. Maybe to deal with snarls. The anchor locker lid is thick and strong but I think I would have bolted the free end through rather than jus rely on the fit and latch to secure it. Doesn’t seem to go anywhere though even...

    208 Windlass?

My 209 has one installed by previous owner who was getting up in years. It’s kinda cool to be able to operate it from the helm, but it’s one more thing to go wrong on the boat and the anchor bangs the bow on occasion leaving some chips in the gel coat. Switch is at the helm, solenoid mounted...
