best case I would tow motor off, with about 100' of line, you can go as fast as you want. But I have towed with motor on and down just have to keep a eye on it, but it tows ok , I have a 10 foot rib and a 6hp motor.

I clean my battery compartment all the time a little water will not hurt it. I use boat zoap and a fussy mitt . wash and then rinse it with the mitt and clean water. The only thing I wouldn't get wet is the AC shore power if it on.
