Ok - just a status report... Insurance DID cover the lower unit. The insurance company had to send a marine surveyor to the dealer's yard to see the damage, but the cut a check for $4,300. I picked the boat up this afternoon and drove her back to Norwalk harbor - good as new - I am so pleased...

I have tried to keep the trap on the swim platform of our 225, and still everything in the boat seems to get covered with mud and gunk. I now keep the traps behind the garage - lucky for me my next-door neighbor has a lobster boat and I can buy a few really fresh ones from him now and again...

I keep the boat on a mooring in salt water, and it is difficult to get to a dock with a hose where I can flush the engine with fresh water. The boat carries 11 gal of fresh water. It would be great if I could flush some of that through the Yammi, but the only outlet of the freshwater system is...

We love our 225, but i will say we almost bought the 205 - It is a great boat. If you can pull it off, I think you will be happy with it. I don't know much about the 19' version though...

I think it is going to be pretty slick for a walking surface if you use a regular wax. Nice thing about Woody Wax is that you can still walk there without falling on your *&%... The Woody Wax directions are to clean the surfaces thoroughly, then leave damp, apply a few squirts of Woody Wax...

another vote for Woody wax - it is excellent stuff. not cheap though.

Thanks Petefish - about the motor in the water, even when it is trimmed up, yes - -we are stuck with that, and you definitely want to paint the lower unit with a bottom paint for Aluminum. (same with the bracket which is aluminum...) If you search for it, you will find a number of other...
