    Seafarer 228 - Livewell seacock

haha - yep, I have the center standpipe drain installed properly. I have it screwed all the way down to the black flange. The following 2 cirumstances occur when the pump is turned off: a) Seacock open - livewell drains b) Seacock closed - livewell stays full, up to the top of the...

    Seafarer 228 - Livewell seacock

Hi all, My livewell fills no problems with the seacock open and pump running. But when I turn off the pump, the water runs out through the seacock (ie through the inlet). This seems a little strange to me. I would have thought there would have been a one-way valve on the inlet so that...

Seafarer 228 - Aft bilge pump float switch

Hi all, I'm trying to locate the float switch for the aft bilge pump on my 2001 228. The manual says that one is installed, but I can't seem to find it and the bilge does retain a lot of water if it rains. I want to leave my boat in the water overnight at a friend's mooring, but I want to...

228 - Rooster tailing off the pod onto the outboard

Thanks Strikezone. I'll check the trim again, but I'm pretty sure it was OK. Also, the rooster tailing occurs on both the port and starboard side, so I don't think it is the transducer. I will take some photos this weekend and post for further investigation!

228 - Rooster tailing off the pod onto the outboard

G'day guys. I have a 2001 228 with a 200HP Yammie HPDI. At lower speeds, the wake seems to rise off the pod and against the upper end of the leg of the outboard (just below the cover) - rooster tailing so to speak. Is this normal for a 228? Cheers

    Someone vandalised my 228

Thanks guys. I'll take the advice and rub away my frustrations and annoyances into a beautiful shiny hull. I have moved the boat to a local marina, its behind a locked gate, barbed wire and 30 minute roaming patrols. haha, I love the 228 too much! Haydn, she rides amazingly, better than...

    Someone vandalised my 228

I'm very sad to say, that after much effort to find a 228 in North Carolina, have it surveyed, modify for shipping, ship along the Atlantic and across the pacific, import and finally have delivered to my house in Sydney, some 'bleep' 'bleep' 'bleep' spray painted the starboard side of my hull...

    Removing hardtop & windscreen - 228 Seafarer

Hello all, Well I can now speak authoritively about this matter as I've received my 228 with hardtop off and re-installed it last weekend. Let me first explain what electrics I had in the hardtop. - Courtesy dome light - Spreader lights - GPS antenna - Marine radio & antenna - Normal...

Pic's of new Grady (from Australia)

There are a couple of ways, 1. In a shipping container (but the boat's dimensions need to suit) 2. RoRo - Roll on Roll off. This is how my boat will be transported - on its trailer, rolled onto a car carrier in Baltimore and rolled off in Sydney 3. There are also vessels made to...

Hi guys, I have just bought a 2001 228 and am considering similar options. Unfortunately I won't take possesion of the boat until July - so could you please let me know what the dimesions on the helm box (inc. depth) and Strikezone - could you please let me know what the length and width...

    228 dimensions

Howdy, I'm looking to buy a Cannon Tournament Uni Troll 10 downrigger for my 228. At this stage, I'd rather not drill holes in the Gunwalls, so am thinking about mounting the downrigger on a Gimbal mounted in the rod holder. e.g. http://www.cannondownriggers.com/produc ... g=mounting...

    Removing hardtop & windscreen - 228 Seafarer

Thanks everyone for the reply. It is true that the extra height adds considerably to the freight costs. As far as I can tell, it is a cubic foot rate for freight. And unfotunately a simple calculation of height x width x length. Thus any foot of extra height equates to one foot across the...

    Removing hardtop & windscreen - 228 Seafarer

Hi Grady fans, I'm writing from Sydney Australia where I'm looking to import a 228 Seafarer from the US. As an aside, Grady's have only recently made it to the land down under and as such the second hand market is pretty much non-existent. To reduce freight costs (and thus spend more of...
