    Gas in bilge, very small amount 272 98 Sailfish

    pulling the tank cover off is not a big deal, I removed mine recently to check on & clean the tops of my tanks. Just have to cut the silicone caulking & remove the screws, the cover is a bit heavy but it will allow inspection. keep us posted

    a litte off this topic but my 2004 yamaha f225 with a corroded through block behind the thermostat, the best i got from yamaha was $500 towards a new short block!! the rest on me. 1.5 years out of warranty-manufacturing defect?

    Advice-4stroke to hpdi

    No, the scuppers are above the waterline as long a my aft tank is empty & i do not have a full water tank. If i was to fill all tanks water & fuel, the scuppers will just be slightly below the waterline. I usually keep the main tank 2/3 full and water tank 1/2 filled and scuppers are fine.

    I expect the same overall performance but how about the noise levels? I been told they are slightly noisier at idle but comparable at cruise. I also been reading that the 200 hpdi was yamahas best bullet proof motor.

    F225 CORROSION ISSUE

    I bought the boat in 2005, the repower was just done 1 year prior, 100 hours on them at that time. I have been reading alot on line about corrosion in early 2002 up to 2005 yamaha 4 strokes, hit or miss on the corrosion but as time goes by we will see what happens.

    Changed my thermostats this past weekend, noticed my starboard f225 had salt deposits just behind the thermostat. changed out the tstats and cleaned up the salt, started the motor and noticed bubbling through the block. NOT GOOD!!. The block has corroded through. I always flush the engines...

    Steering Wheel bolts

    No actually it was the 2 bolts that connect 2 clam shell type halves to the steering shaft. these were all internal. I guess that these allow the wheel to tilt.

    I try to do as much as i can. Water pumps are not too difficult. The ist time is a bear since you have to remove the wodruff key. What i had to do this year is to replace the trim seals since they were leaking.
