Thanks for your replys. I did look at your transom repair pics. You did a great job. It looks like something I could do except for the finish fiberglass work to rejoin the cut pieces. I read about some type of fiberglass panel to use in place of plywood have you had any experience with this?

This is on the transom where my trim tab pump is mounted and on the other side where the battery switch is mounted.

I recently noticed that the areas in the battery wells are soft but the area where the transom drops seems to be fine. I am going to pull my sending unit to inspect my fuel tank and my question is should I re-install the original or just replace it?

I am familiar with the inspection hatch you mentioned. If the tank does have some sludge or dirt at the bottom is there a cleaner I can spray or pour in to clean it?

Getting ready to put fuel in but I was wondering is there a way to flush out the tank without removing it from the boat? Do you think this is necessary? Previous owner said there has not been gas in the tank for about a year and a half.

223 fuel switch Thanks for your replys. I will try the grady site.

I do not have an owners manual for the boat and I would like to find out what the fuel switch on the console does? It is located on the left side of the wheel in a group of three switches.

The bilge pump on my boat is shot. It was a Rule 1000. Is this the right size pump for the boat? Also, on the console the bilge pump switch has on, off and standby. Does the standby position allow for automatic operation if the pump has a float switch? thanks.

My boat came with Bennett v-351 trim tabs which I believe are original. Is the motor supposed to run when switch is in the neutral position? The pump works when the switch is moved to up or down position but the tabs move very slowly. When the switch is released to neutral the motor continues...

My 223 did not come with the two small bow seats. Can anyone give me dimensions and how they were mounted so I can fabricate them? Even some photos would do. Thanks.

Going to replace my transom drains soon,just looking for some advice on sealing them. Should I use o-rings or some type of sealant? I also plan to use a flaring tool. When measuring for the length of the tubes how much should I allow for the flare?

Recently purchased a 1982 223 and I was wondering were there any particular problems associated with the boat other than transom rot etc. that I could fix before we put it in? Having never had a boat with trim tabs what type of maintenance do they require ? ( fluid level?)
