    Great Loop & Grady

We never made the great loop but one day we hope to. We did do a practice cruise last year from Columbus, Ms. to Pass Christian, MS. to see how the lower end of the river portion of the loop would be. We had three couples in our 283 center console Grady and never planned to spend the night on...

    Rubber stoppers

We do not have a Home Depot close to us in Pass Christian and Lowe's didn't have the right size. I found them on line in the Home Depot web site for just over a dollar each. Total freight for one or twelve was $8. Twelve should last me a couple of years and maybe I will remember where I got...

    Rubber stoppers

:-| I was so determined to find them at a marine supply store I failed to think of the obvious. Thanks for pointing me in the. Right direction.

    Rubber stoppers

I am trying to find a source for those rubber stoppers for all the fish and ice boxes on my Grady. I searched West Marine and go2marine web sites and got nothing. A google search came up with one available for $5.95 plus shipping. As often as I loose them I wanted to get a couple dozen.

    Jabsco head pump

Thanks for all the information. I ordered the parts this morning and hopefully will get them by the weekend. I did get a return email from Xylem, the parent company of Jabsco. They advised searching the Internet for the part number or special ordering it from West Marine. The reason the...

    Jabsco head pump

My head pump has started leaking and sewerage water accumulates on the floor in the console of my 283. Their website does not show much in the way of rebuilding kits and all three telephone numbers I have been able to get on the internet have been disconnected. My original documentation shows...

    Quick Flush Port Adapater?

Re: Quick Flush Port Adapter? I read a post last year about someone getting a flush adapter installed by the dealer. There is a company that makes a kit for this and I checked it but decided to do it myself with locally obtained parts. It took me a couple of hours, not counting the three...

    Rear Rod holder replacement 228

I cannot help you, I had the same problem with my 248. I even purchased a new set from West Marine that came with new brackets but couldn't figure out how to get the old brackets off. I finally returned the set to West and purchased some plastic pipe to screw onto the brackets.

    Dampening Cylinder for Hatches

Oceanbean: I had already called them and ordered the plastic ends for .97/ea. Really glad you posted because I called them back and changed it to the Stainless Steel. Cost was $4.14/ea. I'm not sure that the stainless will last that much longer but gave it a try anyway. I have 10 ends total...

    Dampening Cylinder for Hatches

Two of the black plastic ends on the cylinders that hold the hatches up have self destructed and I'm looking to replace them. I emailed Grady and they returned my email almost instantly and said to contact my dealer and get pricing on new SS ends, their part number 30-185. I emailed my closest...

    Grady drive inspection?

All the above advice is good. I think you need to keep the Grady Drive and get a new mechanic.

306 Bimini and 283 Release Advice

I tow my 283 with 250's from my marina to my office and back again each year. It is just about all interstate and I pull it about 60 mph. No permit needed in Louisiana/Mississippi and have had no problem for the past few years. I did have to replace the rear end in my 1/2 ton Suburban but...

    First GW 283 Release

Tinman283 I have two summers under my belt with my 283 and have been 95% satisfied. The 5% dissatisfied is because of the lack of access to the rear float switch and bilge pump. This is the only equipment I have had a problem with so I do not know what kind of access I will have to other...

    1892 24' Offshore transom question

The 24' offshore I had came with a bracket and a 225 HP Johnson 2 stroke. I changed the engine to a Merc 225 Optimax. I loved the combination and would advise using the bracket if budget allows.

    New member looking at Overnighters

My first Grady was an Overnighter and it sold me on Grady's. I used it for 10 years and never had a problem with it. The ride in rough water was a little wet but you should not have a problem in the river. The main advantage of the bracket is that it puts the motor outside the transom and...

    283 access to bilge

The floor of the motor well is solid fiberglass, not cored. I tried spraying water between the hatch frame and the fiberglass but no water appeared in the bilge. When water does start appearing, ("o" ring goes bad) I might consider caulk but at least now I can properly repair/replace the float...

Here we go again...maybe hi fuel costs

One solution to the problem is evident here in the northern gulf coast. Drill baby, drill. The tree-huggers cry about pollution and use the BP spill as an example of things that could happen. But, if it wasn't for the attorneys, not much would be in the news about pollution around Louisiana...

    283 access to bilge

Well, I got to the warehouse around 7 AM Saturday to install the access hatch recommended by "Nothing Else Matters". It came in last week from Great Lakes. If you disregard the two trips to Lowe's, one trip to the hardware store and one to West Marine it turned out much easier that I expected...
