    Twenty foot owners

I have recently read a member here was having troubles with his newly purchased boat (208 I think). We recently ran a few tests and I hope our results will help others. 2002 Grady 209 with every option available (T-top with curtains, freshwater shower, livewell, baitwell, leaning post, full...

    What change makes sense?

We recently purchased a 2002 209 and also plan on modifying our electronics layout. The boat came with stereo unit and VHF mounted in the T-top overhead electronics box. There was a small fish-finder in the console electronics box. We purchased two units, a dedicated fish finder and a...

    Where to buy parts?

Thank you, looks like I'll be doing some (more) shopping.

Was this a members boat? What Happened?

On a related topic, I believe most if not all the more current Grady Whites are "unsinkable." I was under the impression that the foam was "garanteed" to prevent the boat from sinking. I also assumed that the boat would eventually flip over (turtle) so the hardtop would face the sea floor. Do...

    Where to buy parts?

    A. 2002 Grady 209, need new freshwater shower handle complete (black plastic). Looks almost identical to the shower handle on the 2006 Marlin. B. 2006 Grady 300, need new freshwater spray handle for bait station (chrome colored plastic) C. 2006 300, need new Pur brand filter assembly...

    need advise on rode length

If I remember correctly you are supposed to use a seven to one ratio on anchor rode if conditions allow. In simple terms seventy feet in ten feet of water (actually from the bow cleat to the ground). In your recent situation, I would realistically want to use about 200 feet. I've also learned...

    1996 Grady Marlin 30

It sounds like a great price. Eighteen thousand is still a lot of money, I would suggest a survey as it could save you a ton of headaches (and money). Old outboard technology is obviously less efficient than current designs, however at almost one nautical mile per gallon, your not doing that bad.

New Islander 268 owner - with questions !

Don't know the 268 at all, but you can get the schematics (plumbing, electrical, rigging tubes) on line from Grady. Hopefully this link will help you: http://www.gradywhite.com/customer/manu ... ander/268/ I would pull the inspection plates and listen carefully with the freshwater pump...

GW Chase 263 with Yamaha F200 I4s question?

I suspect you are one of the first person on this website to install the new I4-200 outboards, I think this is the reason none of us have responded. Please share your thoughts on your new outboards as compared to the old. Many of us are considering the new I4-200, but not many people around...

    ? about all around light

I'm not sure what size your boat is so I cannot be certain of what to recommend (I think the rules are different based on the length of your boat). I believe most Grady Whites are wired as follows: Rock the navigation light switch towards the top, the bow lights and the all around light turn on...

    Marlin 300 vs. Adventure 208

I'm pretty sure all of the 28 to 30 foot marlins are SeaV2 (1989 till present), might want to check with Grady.

    Raising Engine

Ono - my 209 outboard it definitely way too low. If I use the second video as a reference, my motor is about three or four inches too low. I thought the first of the three segments of the video was acceptable. Now I'm thinking I should raise two holes for starters. REB- makes sense...

First day on the water w 208, cruise speed off ?

In calm water You Would Raise The Engine (Trim Up) Which Will Also Raise The Bow Of The Boat. As A Result, You Will Have Less Of The Boat In The Water And Your Speed Will Increase. You Will Also Reduce Your Fuel Consumption At The Same time. By Not Raising Your Bow, It's Kind Of Like Driving...

First day on the water w 208, cruise speed off ?

Congrats on the new boat. If I recall 6000 is the maximum rpm for that outboard, and ideally you want to be able to hit the max with an average load. It sounds like you might have a lot of slip with your propeller, what is the diameter and what pitch? Is it aluminum or stainless? Assuming...

    Raising Engine

I've read that ideally you should be able to "blow out" prop when trimmed way too high, I cannot blow out prop(s) on either boat if I tried. On the 209 the cavitation plate appears to be about two inches below the water at cruise and WOT. I think I'll go up one hole and test it out. I'll post...

    Raising Engine

I finally took a ride on our 2002 209 today. I am almost certain the engine height could be raised at least one hole after running it for a few hours today. On the same subject, I've been considering raising the engines on our 300 for a few years now. I'm hoping you guys could give me a...

Thinking of switching gulfstream to Marlin???

I realize these outboards are the 250hp version, but this will give you an idea what to expect on a marlin. http://www.yamahaoutboards.com/sites/de ... -GRW-Z.pdf I believe you are grossly over propped on your Gulfstream. Your outboards are designed to have a 5500 rpm WOT if I recall...

Thinking of switching gulfstream to Marlin???

Your in a unique situation. Yes, I think it would be difficult for you to sell your Gulfstream as you are above the hp limit. I also think it might be difficult to sell your boat without any power on it (especially if you take the gauges and rigging for the new Marlin). What year is the...

Side mount or hardtop mount outriggers?

I'm old school, I prefer the Lee Senior side mount outriggers on our marlin. They are double rigged and I have pulled two medium sized spreader bars off each outrigger on occasion. I also like the added spread I get with these 16' single spreader pole with 8' base (24' total). I've considered...
