    using earmuffs on outboard

    So after reading all the other posts, I decided to hook up the muffs and start the engine before launching next week (hopefully). I have a 225 Yamaha with rectangular intakes. I purchased the muffs with square cups and attempted to cover the intakes. The problem is the intakes are located on the...

    using earmuffs on outboard

    Just adding my nickle's worth, though not as detailed as Seasick, and Dennis. My first winterizing after purchasing the boat, I was told I needed to replace the water pump because it was partially melted. When I asked what could cause it to melt, he answered "running the motor on muffs". I...

    Replacing Live Well Pump

    Yup I agree-still sore after 2 days. I've worked in the auto repair business for 42 years, so I'm used to frozen bolts and difficulty reaching parts, but this kicked my butt! I know when the bilge pump fails, I'll let the shop do it.

    Replacing Live Well Pump

    OK Just posing a question after the fact. I just changed the livewell pump on my 2003 Gulfstream. WHAT A PIA! Leaning over the bilge hatch opening, trying to get leverage, finally got it loose with a pipe wrench head upside down so I could get two hands on it. My question is...how do the pros do...

    installing radio on grady

    Just adding my 2 cents worth....my 2003 Gulfstream has a mechanical pump that runs off the engine. There isn't an electric fuel pump in the tank hence the primer bulb. The radio does run with just the battery switch on-key off. Hope this helps.

    Hardtop storage net zipper?

    I would contact any one that does canvas repair on boats. They would have the necessary equipment for the heavier material.

    Busted for riding on the bow

    I know this an old post but I often wondered about this. My Gulfstream "walkaround" has the seats on the forward cabin that I have allowed my grandchildren to sit on only when accompanied by their father. It was interesting to hear from Daman858 and "the other side". You sir have a thankless job...

    HELM SEAT ADJUSTMENT

    Thank you. I'll check with my dealer to see if I can order the parts from him. Probably should have called him first.

    HELM SEAT ADJUSTMENT

    My 2003 Gulfstream's helm seat has a lever that allows the seat to be adjusted forward or rearward. The lever is broken off. Has anyone had any experience replacing just the lever or do I have to buy a new seat? Thank you all for any advice.

    LIVEWELL BAIT PUMP

    Thanx GatorDave-I'll check it out.

    LIVEWELL BAIT PUMP

    Looking to replace the original livewell pump on my 2003 Gulfstream. Any suggestions as to model or type (centrifugal, diaphragm). Hoping to mount it in the same position on the transom. From what I've read, a centrifugal pump needs to be mounted below the water line which my current one is not...

    Grady Fest

    I was thinking of going but not by boat either and I keep my Gulfstream on the north shore of Mass. Interesting that you didn't get any other responses.

    Grady Sinks all are safe

    Unbelievable story...boat doesn't sink, and some POS steals the props.

    Open Water Running

    Thanks DennisG01 and Legend. Good advice. I hadn't thought about using the trim tabs for bow up or down, just using them for starboard or port list. Good results there-amazing how much correction a 1 second button press will make. I'll check out Bennett's site. Thanks again

    Open Water Running

    Still getting used to my 2003 Gulfstream. Had it out on the ocean this weekend in light chop-2'-3' seas. It seems to handle the waves better with the trim pushing the bow down-under 1 on the tilt scale. I notice most other boats running bow high though. Thoughts?? In calm water it does plane off...

    BOOM !

    I've been in the tire business for 41 years and I've never seen that happen while the tire is just sitting there. I have seen sidewalls blow out but not in the tread area. My guess is that it developed a ply separation. The tire will develop a pocket of air trapped in the plies and create a...

    Permits and insurance

    I can only speak for Mass. as far as trailering. 10ft or wider you need a special permit. I went through the same process as you and I chose a 2003 Gulfstream. I tow it with my son's Toyota Tundra with no problem at all. It is the perfect boat for family, fishing, or single handling. The ride is...

    trim gage stuck on three ?

    Had the same problem last year on my 03 Gulfstream. The shop replaced the sending unit (about $250 w/labor). Works great now. Made a huge difference in trimming out for best RPM and speed.

    What's everybody doing on their Grady this weekend?

    Wishin mine was in the water. In the shop for new oil pump after it's first sea trial last weekend. :(

    Yamaha 225 oil leak

    Thanks for the reply Harpoon. Unfortunately my problem is bigger. Turns out the oil pump failed. Nothing that $1400 can't fix! Didn't expect that kind of repair on a 325 hour motor but it is 13 years old. Purchased the boat late last summer so it may have sat for a while. The good news is it...
