    ran into pier...cracked fiberglass

Ouch..! "No good deed goes unpunished..." :? This kind if repair is not that difficult and you could do it yourself if you or any of your fishing buddies are handy. It's a little bit like the first and last steps of a transom repair - consider your crack to be the "cut line" in this...

    Bilge area storage for Sailfish

Hi - I wanted an area for "dirty" storage for things like grease, WD40, funnels, oil, etc. and got the idea for this storage box from Gary M. It sits on the stringers under the rear seat. The two larger compartments are sized for one-gallon oil containers and the smaller compartment is sized for...

    Yamaha repower

Have you ruled out Evinrude? Your boat would scream with an E-tec 200HO and this isn't "your father's Oldsmobile." 8) If you wanted to save some dough, you could pick up a used one and your existing Evinrude controls and gauges would still work.

New Etec on the market, impressions?

The claim is "20 percent more torque, 15 percent better fuel economy, and 75 percent lower emissions than the best outboards in this category" but I haven't seen the numbers yet. The current generation E-tec is already more efficient than 4-strokes in the 500-1500 RPM range and equal to the...

New Etec on the market, impressions?

(I just returned from a few weeks in Australia and I think I saw more White motors than Gray motors where I was down there. (I also saw more Caterpillars than Kamatsu but they have big SUV's made in China by Great Wall Motors...) I read that it is the 4-strokes that are going to require the...

outboard power for 24' offshore 225 vs. 250

Jason, I'll bet an E-Tec 200HO would work on your boat if you can find one used. The HO model has 10% more horsepower (220) and is quite and clean burning with none of the smoke associated with the old carbureted 2-strokes. My twins push my Sailfish at about 48 MPH but fooling around I did a...

    Repowered the 208

Congrats on your new E-Tec - what did you get for a prop? There are a couple of 208 discussions here - mostly prop related: http://www.etecownersgroup.com/post/rep ... 75-5917867 http://www.etecownersgroup.com/post/vip ... op-6164981

Any new 230 Fisherman Owners Out There with Pics?

Nice collection of waterline photos for a 230 with a 300 here: http://www.luxuryatch.com/2012-grady-wh ... sherman-2/ (That outboard looks it could be moved up a couple of holes) Regarding the stern design of the 257, I think most would say it is a non issue. That Eurotransom design with the...

    Twenty foot owners

Hi - good numbers, did you get a feel for whether there was a significant performance improvement that could be attributed to the motor height change alone?

    looking at 91 Marlin

The boat looks great. Even your cabin windows look to be in good condition. (My side windows are shot.) If the previous owner sees it he will be kicking himself for letting it go for such a good price... 8)

    looking at 91 Marlin

Congrats again on the quick sale - time to change your signature... 8) You are very happy with the detailing - just curious, what did they do and what did they charge?

    looking at 91 Marlin

$14,500 seems like a great deal for that package. Your insurance quotes do seem high at $1800 - aren't they based on stated value?

    Waterline pics new 257 Fisherman

One thing to keep in mind is that most boats are delivered with the outboards mounted too low. The dealers tend to be conservative in this area because they don't want to disappoint a new owner with the risk of prop blowout during a turn. They tend to use the second mounting hole from the top...

need shower hose for head in cabin

I did the Cheapie way by superglueing the crack and wrapping with electrical tape and it is holding for the moment but I am afraid to tighten all the way or the crack will open. I hadn't thought of the barb-to-female pipe fitting - that opens up more possibilities. I found this one on Ebay but...

    both motors shut down

You probably already did this - can you run one engine off the main tank and the second off the aux? Then maybe only one will quit and then you can take if from there. I had this happen once and it was because I had water in the main tank but the Aux was okay.

need shower hose for head in cabin

Here is a photo - the fitting at the end I am holding is cracked. I am assuming I will have to replace the hose. I wouldn't mind upgrading to a SS hose and showerhead if it will fit onto my existing plumbing. [Photo deleted due to quota]

need shower hose for head in cabin

The fitting at the end of the shower hose cracked and it leaking under the sink when I turn the faucet on. The plastic hose is about 4 or 5 feet long with two threaded fittings at each end that are about 9/16" in diameter. The diameter of this hose is about 1/2". It is an assembly with the two...
