How many guys have boat names and name graphics??

Love this subject! My wife is from New Zealand and her Dad was the original "old salt". He had her brainwashed about how bad it is to change the name! So, we're heading out to see a used boat for sale (to be our first boat) and we're all excited! As we come down the street, there's the nice...

How do you dock your Sailfish..?

One way that I remember which throttle needs to be in Rev/Fwd is to look at the handle itself. It's "L" shaped so when it Fwd (towards the bow) it "points" to which way the bow will go. In Rev (towards the stern) it will "point" which way the stern will move. You will need to learn the boat's...

First Grady - finished purchase today...!

I had the exact boat/year for 4 years and she took us to the Bahamas and back many, many times! One thing that I easilly did was to make a bait/fish board for the aft bench seat area, using the cushion as a template then getting a shop to cut a piece of starboard to custom fit that area. Use...

    Mold/Mildew in my A/Cs condenser!

Yes, the tight finned evaporator..... sorry. The metal filter is falling apart and my be the source of all the crap getting in. I thought about cutting up a home AC filter to fit as the Grady dealer does not carry this item. Any potential problems to using that type of filter? To clean the...

    Mold/Mildew in my A/Cs condenser!

After running the AC for 2 days, the mold/mildew issue seems to have cleared up but the condensor still has a lot dust, dirt, etc in it. I have tried to gently vacuum that out but is there a better way to clean that up nicely?

    Mold/Mildew in my A/Cs condenser!

I noticed that the air conditioning was not blowing as cold as normal so I took the metal filter out of in front of the condensor on my 2001 Marlin to find the tiny, thin metal vanes pretty clogged up with mold/mildew. What is the best way to clean this out? Also, my Grady dealer does not...

    Bimini Bay Closing

Not uncommon for many Bahamian places to close up after Labor Day and re-open a few months later. Sept and Oct is SLOW in the Bahamas.

Buying 1995 272 Sailfish - Any Advice? & Wish Me Luck

Welcome aboard Mike! We had a 1994 Sailfish for 4 years and she took us back and forth to the Bahamas many, many times! You will LOVE the boat and if you do the occassional upgrade and keep her in tip-top shape, you'll do great when you sell her to move up to a Marlin! Mine sold to the very...

    No shore power to panel......HELP

My 2001 Marlin has the BIG selector switch just inside the cabin and it's labeled SHORE-OFF-GEN. I had the same "problem" that you did once and it was because that big switch was still in the OFF position! :bang Also, take out the four screws and drop the AC/DC switch panel down and look at...

How many lines do you troll?

Man, you guys are SERIOUS! With my Marlin, I troll mostly for dolphin and I keep it simple with only 4 lines total. One line off each outrigger and two flat lines off the stern rod holders. I stagger them and will sometimes drag a squid teaser as well. I'm not set up for more lines plus I tend...

    208 Adventure feedback

My Kiwi Admiral and I had many great trips and hours on our 208 w/150 Yamaha. A 200 would be great! Took it to the Bahamas three times too! The cabin is more for dry storage, but you "could" sleep down there.......

    Pursuit vs Grady

Wow! I was doing a Search on Google for a Pursuit Owner's Forum like this one and stumbled onto this thread from last Sept! The IRONIC part is that The Kiwi Admiral and I have just decided to move up from our much loved 2001 30 Marlin to a 2008+ Pursuit OS 345. We will begin the "search" soon as...

    Marlin 300 Electronic Box question

Just my .02 worth. When deciding on what to put where, a wise man once suggested, to put the most used, most looked at stuff right in front of you. Anything else can go up above. And when it was time to flush mount my 2001 Marlin, I put the 10" NavNet and 7" Furuno FF right in front of me. The...

    Old Gradys

We've known Bruce, Brian, etc at VMC since we bought our first Grady in 1997. Amazingly, we've never lived even near Vero but we've ended up getting all three boats from them! We took the 20 on a Grady-Bunch Abaco trip early on and then 2 years ago we caught up with the Bunch at Green Turtle Cay...

    Old Gradys

Gotcha. We probably average about $5-6,000 a year in upkeep and repairs. Half of that is normal upkeep and the other half is in repairs. It's rare that I need to visit my Grady dealer for Grady parts, but it's been mostly all the accessories, applicances and odds and ends that seem to break...

    Bow rail rust????

The fact that 6-8 of these did this after a good soaking of salt spray is what made me wonder what was going on! Where as I used to be able to get away with just a fresh water hosedown and then a full washing the next day, I can't do that now and this has come up all of a sudden this year! Any...

    Bow rail rust????

I've owned this boat for 6 summers now and suddenly, unless I wash the boat right away with lots of soapy suds and tons of water after taking some spray, I'm getting this overnight! It's never done that before so it was a real eye-opener! Is it the screws that are rusting? The base of the bow...
