    Old Gradys

How coincidental! We're on our third Grady (all bought up the road from you at Vero Marine Center), going back to 1997 and two years ago we did an 18 day Abaco trip, staying aboard our 2001 Marlin! My boat's at the 10 year mark and over the last two years I've really had to keep on top of the...

    My newly re-covered cockpit bolsters!

Nothing! He's probably hoping that they need re-covering next year! You bring up a good point though as I'd be wise to treat them with something. Luckily, with the aft Bimini "out/deployed" at home, the bolsters are in the shade for at least half the day so that helps right there. For...

    My newly re-covered cockpit bolsters!

My Marlin has the built-in rear seat cushion which is very tricky to re-cover. Also, the port side bolster is one, elongated "L" shaped cushion making it tricky as well. If they don't get that corner stitched perfectly, it won't turn out well. I had one canvas shop turn me away when I brought...

    Anchor setup

Re: Voyager 248 - Anchor stuck on bow pulpit If you are anchored up on a wreck with an anchor with a trip-line and a T-storm/line comes rolling in, how do you "switch" to the heavy duty anchor with long chain and rode? Also, for those of you who use a "trip-line" I've found that there's a...

I might need a new trim/tilt motor!! Help!

Yep, it was another B-O-A-T problem! The main piston had some corrosion on it (it's in the water 24/7) and the scoring wore out the main seal. Same thing happened to the other engine about 18 months ago. A new piston, a bunch of new seals, etc and it's back to 100%. So glad that I dodged...

I might need a new trim/tilt motor!! Help!

Yeah, I had some scoring on the port engine last year and they were able to rebuild that one at almost $1,000. We'll find out what the problem is when they get it out of the water and take a close look at it.....

    2005 Marlin A/C questions?

That sounds about like your last resort. You might also call the AC manufacturer and see if they have any Tech people that you can talk to. When running, my discharge cooling water spews out a very solid stream of water about two feet out from the hull at the waterline.... just an FYI

I might need a new trim/tilt motor!! Help!

The motor itself sings like a canary! The fluid is what's leaked out so it either is a seal(s) or it was explained to me that the whole unit casing may have corroded somewhere to the point that a leak developed and in that case, it needs to be replaced. The boat is docked behind the house 24/7...

I might need a new trim/tilt motor!! Help!

The Service Manager did mention that an entire new trim/tilt unit would run about $3,200 and on boats.net it runs about $2,800 so IF that's what happens, at least I have an option or some leverage to save a few bucks..................

    Gulfstream Stereo Speaker Placement

I mounted a pair of marine box speakers up under the gunnels. The gunnels (on my 1994 Sailfish) were about an inch or more thick but I drilled one mounting bracket screw hole just about 1/32 too far up and it cracked the top fiberglass of the gunnel, so if you do that, be careful.

    Grady Marlin Arm rest replacement

Yeah, I've learned to "not be in a hurry" when passing by those seats!

I might need a new trim/tilt motor!! Help!

Thanks FT....... I'm still waiting (now Sunday) to hear what they've found out....... with my fingers crossed that it's only a bad seal.

    2005 Marlin A/C questions?

I love everything about this Bimini..........except the price as I was hoping to get something made for about half that price. But, when we stay aboard in the Bahamas versus paying for a slip (anyway) and then paying for a room for $125-$150 a night...... the savings will sort of justify it...

I might need a new trim/tilt motor!! Help!

Will do......... I'd love to have a place lined up ahead of time so that in the event that I do need the entire thing, I'll either be able to buy it and have it shipped to my GW dealer, or use it to possible buy it from my dealer for the same price......... I don't want to wait for the "phone...

I might need a new trim/tilt motor!! Help!

Had a big leak after the last trip and could barely get the Yamaha up. It's at my local Grady dealer and it it's just a seal or two, no biggie, but he explained that the unit may have coroded over the years (2001 model) and if so, I'll need a whole trim/tilt unit running about $3,200!! Does that...

    Grady Marlin Arm rest replacement

Bought my 2001 Marlin in 2006 and Vero Marine Center/G-W replaced them for free. Sticky little buggers!! They love to grab shirt tails!

    2005 Marlin A/C questions?

I had a worn out fan motor and that meant less airflow through the coil (under the steps) so it kept freezing up. We had to pull the whole AC out from the fridge opening but a new fan did the trick. The temp sensor should be a tiny hole on the very bottom of the AC control panel in the cabin...

How do I remove cockpit bolsters, etc?

My seat back was simple after all. Two snaps along the bottom and straight up/off the hangers! FAR easier than the seat back on my 1994 Sailfish! The other panels had 2-3 screws in the bottoms and off they came. I'm using Tip Top Canvas in South Broward County and I have used them in the past...

How do I remove cockpit bolsters, etc?

Sorry to ask again, but are there any tricks to removing the curved back rest of the aft bench seat? Thanks......
