Sailfish factory changes through the years? What do you know.

I'm having a hard time finding any info on what major changes were done and when. It seems like they started installing 4 strokes in 02' I believe I clarified that they went to the SeaV 2 hull in 1998. I at least found something online that led me to believe that. It looks like 05 they...

2006 250 4 strokes, do they have exhaust issues and how many is too many hours?

Thanks, I have heard reports of 3 to 5 thousand hours expectancy depending on maintenance and abuse. How they've been treated can't really be verified other than just looking over condition. One of the boats I'm looking at has 2500 hours on 06 F250's and it's priced accordingly but seems to be...

2006 250 4 strokes, do they have exhaust issues and how many is too many hours?

The title pretty much sums it up. I have in the past looked past a boat because it had 2500 hours or so. Should I be considering something like that if it's been well maintained? I know the 225's have the exhaust issues but not sure about the hours on those as well. Any insight would be...

    Yamaha Motors

I would bet Yamaha can give you a paint code to get it made up anywhere but be careful not to damage the decals because I understand those are really expensive. Good luck.

    Those kill switch thingies?

The video above was clearly an open low sides vessel which is where you should definitely be wearing a kill switch but as Spark said above, when at the helm of a boat with a cabin in front above and behind you then the only chance of going overboard is if you are capsized and at that point the...

    2005 282 Sailfish

I'm commenting just so I get notice of responses. I'm looking at buying a 282 and this would be good to know. Thanks and good luck.

    Considering a 282 Sailfish vs a Marlin 300, ideas?

Congratulations on your new boat. I saw that one and it looks amazing but you already had it locked up. I am looking at one of my back up boats but haven’t heard back from them yet. As for my failed survey the surveyor said 4’ tall section below the rub line mid ship completely delaminated. His...

    Looking for a Sailfish 272 or 282

We just backed out on a gorgeous 272 in Delaware that has major structural fiberglass issues. Major bummer but back in the saddle for the hunt again. My wife is already pointing out new listings. We will find the right one.

    Considering a 282 Sailfish vs a Marlin 300, ideas?

This one failed survey. Delam over a 10’ x 4’ section of starboard mid ship. The wife and I are super bummed and back on the hunt for another one. Today’s our anniversary and we are a bit disappointed.

    Considering a 282 Sailfish vs a Marlin 300, ideas?

Survey happening tomorrow morning. I expect it to be everything the seller has told me and I will be driving to the east coast Monday to bring her home. I confirmed warranty on the motors this morning and that all matches with what I was told. The seller seems like the kind of guy we all want to...

    Garboard drain plug!!

Like every boater I have also done this. Most memorable was an old jet boat with a 460 in it. I launched and hopped in the boat to take off and it took a few seconds to realize why I was standing in 3 inches of water. I dove in right away and had to dive under to get to the transom because this...

    Freedom (I mean fishing) 4/25/20

Nice looking fish. Our halibut season on the ocean was closed this year. We're hearing possibility of a late opening in August so we're hopeful. Looks like I will be fishing it my new to me Sailfish. Woohoo.

    Considering a 282 Sailfish vs a Marlin 300, ideas?

It comes with a 2011 aluminum tandem axle Tarpon trailer rated for 10,000 pounds. I would prefer a triple axle but will make due for now with this one which I can sell and buy a triple later if needed.

    Considering a 282 Sailfish vs a Marlin 300, ideas?

Just got my offer accepted on this boat. Now working out the details on whether to ship it home or drive out and get it. Looking forward to getting some tuna blood on the beautiful decks.

    Considering a 282 Sailfish vs a Marlin 300, ideas?

It is a nice looking boat but also says sale pending. I'm looking currently at a bit older one with brand new motors that is in amazing shape. We like the helm layout on the older model a bit better because it has two captains seats so my wife can see and enjoy the ride. We have a Bayliner 3888...

    Considering a 282 Sailfish vs a Marlin 300, ideas?

Looked at a Marlin today and I think I like the layout of the sailfish. The storage seems like it's actually better than the Marlin and typically a bit cheaper too. I think the wife and I both are leaning more towards the late 272 or 282. At least I know towing will be easier.

    Considering a 282 Sailfish vs a Marlin 300, ideas?

Yes I am currently looking for a 282 or Marlin. Pricing is obviously a concern as always but please let me know what you have and what you're thinking price wise. The other one I reached out about online from the east coast hasn't responded yet. Year, engine info and condition along with some...

    Considering a 282 Sailfish vs a Marlin 300, ideas?

Nice looking boat. I'm currently waiting to hear back on a 282 with a fold down tuna tower with gps and controls in the tower. That would be pretty awesome for chasing bluefin. I have heard a lot of good things about the Marlin but most of them I find are east coast which means a long haul home.

    Considering a 282 Sailfish vs a Marlin 300, ideas?

We have been looking for about 18 months at both 282 and 300 models and we're getting closer to ready to pull the trigger on something. We will be trailering the boat at least 8 or 9 months of the year so that is a factor. It seems like the Marlin models are pretty close typically in price but...
