2000 Gulfstream - What is this please?

That's a gull sweep 'mast' (made by BIRD-B-GONE, I think). Gull sweep sits on top of the mast and the two 'sails' orbit around the center. I have one attached to a sandbag that I can remove when using the boat..

    Factory Spec Gas Tank ...

Great info. The tanks in my GW are 16 years old and may lift deck 'covers' to see the bilge area. Thinking ahead about fuel tanks (both main and aux) and other things to look at when the bilge area.

    Factory Spec Gas Tank ...

Is the epoxy for the outside of the tank for the inside? Years ago I 'coated' inside a gasoline tank on my motorcycle, and it worked out great.

232 Gulfstream: Props & Motor Height...

Yamaha Reliance Series 14-1/4" diameter, 18-M pitch. Motor bolt location is second hole from top. I am getting 5400 rpm, trimmed high and flat water, 47 mph. Yamaha book says its within the operating range but I'd prefer to be closer to 6000 rpm. Not anxious to buy two new props for the 600...

    Re Power

I live in Los Angeles and repowered last year (2019). I didn't see a big difference in $$ between Suzuki and Yamaha. My boat was already rigged for Yamaha and that was a savings from repower to another manufacturer, too. If your local Yamaha dealer offers scratch and dent motors, you can save...

    Enclosure storage Hack

Great idea! I had one made for a previous boat I had, this is a great idea.

Dream to retire with my boat and fish....

Thanks for info from you all. I'm 7 years + before retirement will start but thinking about it more and more. Seriously looking outside of California.

Dream to retire with my boat and fish....

I'm a little way off to retirement, but I'm starting to dream. I live in Southern California, a 1+ hour to get to the ocean. I like my boat and I love being on the water. If you had a choice to live in a great fishing location in the USA, where would you go? I'm thinking Florida (Atlantic or...

232 Gulfstream: Props & Motor Height...

I'd suggest see what WOT and RPM your boat can get, and compare that to what the Yamaha manual says the operating range of RPM is. Want to get close to max as possible. You may need to play around with trim different times to see what is affected by trim. Within using the trim tabs, I tilt...

    Thinking Gulfstream

I had a 1993 208 for almost 20 years. I loved it. I fish along the Southern California coast and Catalina Island so most of the time is on the 'up to 40 miles' offshore. Picking the weather, that boat was terrific. I repowered with a Etech 200hp and the fuel efficiency gain was great, too...

Grady 208 top speed with new mercury 4 stroke 225 hp

I'll look for the thread. I like both the 208 and 232.

Grady 208 top speed with new mercury 4 stroke 225 hp

I think you are over-proppped (although I didn't see info on prop like diameter or pitch). Seems like the operating range would be up to 5800-6400 rpm for a Verado, so if you are only seeing 5200 rpm and hull is pretty clean, I would link a inch or two in pitch based on same diameter (for...

See you all out on the Bay

I used USHIP last year for my Gulfstream. I had a trailer for it. From NJ to Los Angeles and took about 4 or 5 days. Towed by 1 ton diesel dually. It worked out well for me.

    232 Gulfstream trailering

I tow my 2004 Gulfstream 232 with a 2002 Ford Excursion diesel. Works well, I take it easy on the steeper hills. The boat is a 9'-3" and is wider than ones I've owned before. I am getting used to it, some of the narrow lanes in Los Angeles freeways are interesting sometimes. I've had the...

    Deck crack with rust?

I have a 2004 GW Gulfstream 232. I noticed a small (1"-2" long) crack on the starboard side of the cockpit. It has rust on it. I am trying to figure out why there is metal on/near/in the small crack. I am going to scrape out the crack to see if there is anything lodged in it, but seems like...

    A question about trailers

Here's a pic of my 2019 Tidewater trailer winch stand. It has a 2004 GW Gulfstream on it. It seems strong, I put boat on deepwater and try winch the least amount I need to. I am going try the slick surface at some point. My $0.02.

    Gulfstream Repower

I repowered with two Yamaha 200's last fall. The Inflatable Specialists https://www.inflatableboats.net/ in Ventura, California did it. I think they sell Honda's too. Got dent and scratch models (new). I replaced two Yamaha 200's (2004 V6 3.3L). I like the new I4 2.8L so far. The lighter...

Toggle switches at helm replacement (330 Express)

In the meantime (figuring out what I want to do with the switch covers) I've used my label maker and made them and for the fuel fillers. Need 'taller' tapes in black for fuel and U/W Lights. Only wish I had a more steady hand when applying them to the switch....

Toggle switches at helm replacement (330 Express)

I had a similar question; my original switch is a Contura II (printed) version. I need one that indicates "FUEL Main/Aux". I called New Wire Marine and they said I should use the Contura V (etched) switch cover, they had a cover with exactly what I am looking for. I would need to replace all...
