    96 272 sailfish scuppers

I had a 268 Islander that I made an access on the inside of the floor from the scuppers which worked perfectly to access the scuppers and change the hoses.

    Grady southbound to FL

I’m in Stuart. The inlet can get nasty but it’s usually no prob in the summer. Lots of rack storage close to the inlet and lots of storage yards within a few miles drive to the closest ramp to the inlet(Sandsprint). It used to be quiet but now it’s as busy as Jupiter

Did you not need to modify your bow rail?

    Real Repower Cost, Twin 250's

It’s crazy, I got a quote just less than a year ago for a pair of Suzuki 250 fly by wire for $34k fully rigged and installed.

    Replace 282 Sailfish helm seats

I have a similar set to those but I can’t remember the manufacturer. Very comfortable but they leave very little room to get by. I’d like to replace one and put in the bench which should open it up a bit.

    Trailer Problems

Had the same problem with my old 268. If I drove it up on the trailer it was fine but if I winched it up it would do the same thing as yours.

    Insurance Recommendation Needed

My dad’s 2019 Cobia just got canceled by GEICO too with no explanation(Ft. Lauderdale). I have mine through Allstate on my ‘01 Sailfish in Stuart. They were the most reasonable last year.

Livewell sloshes into drink cooler 268

A soft side Rtic cooler fits perfectly under the companion bench seat and keeps ice much better

Looking for hard top rocket launchers

I bought mine for Great Lakes Skipper. They periodically have them, or check eBay. I’ve seen several there

    Survey and sea trial

It’s your money so if the surveyor gives you an issue if you want to shadow him then send him packing. After all the things my surveyor missed on my first Grady I was all over the surveyor on my second one and he was super cool with it. Showed me things I would not have looked for and looked...

    1995 268 Islander

My first boat was a ‘95 268 Islander. I had twin 200 HPDIs and it was a rocket. The biggest problem I had(besides the hull and top cap separating and filling the boat to the gunwales) was that the stringers are directly under the plate covering the fuel tank. There was NO fiberglass on the...

Livewell sloshes into drink cooler 268

I don’t think that is meant to be a cooler. I always put the frozen bait in there and used the fish box for anything cold on my 268.

    New to me boat

My last boat was a ‘95 Islander and I can tell you that the glass work was pretty crappy in a lot of areas. In your second picture on the second set you posted are those the stringers? Did you take off both floor plates? They did not glass in the top of the stringers for some crazy reason and...

    Keeping cubby door open?

My 282 has the heavy clear straps with the twist locks for both e-boxes and the cabin door. My old 268 had SS for the cabin door

    Higher Fuel Prices

$4.99 for Rec fuel in Stuart Fl. I think I’m going to run regular through my Sailfish this summer if it keeps up.

    1998 272 Sailfish Engine Upgrade

I looked at a ‘98 Sailfish with F250’s on it. No problem with the insurance company but it sat low in the water at the stern. The scuppers weren’t moved up but it was quick out of the hole and fast top end. Also looked at one with Etec 300’s that did 60mph but the owner didn’t have insurance...

    New Hatch for Islander.

I had my 268 deck plate done around 7 years ago for $300 so that’s probably not a bad price. Just make sure you seal the two inspection plates very good. Also, once you have the plate off check the tops of the stringers. Mine were fiberglassed all the way up the sides about an 1/2 inch over...

    Outriggers on 282 Sailfish

Fishtales thanks for the reply with the link to pics. That is what I’m going to do.

New (to me) Grady 268. What's the hatch for?

I’m guessing vent hatch for the cabin based on my old 268. A pic would clear this up
