    Thinking of selling my 228

Just spent 2 years restoring my Seafarer 228 and repowered with a 2023 Mercury 4-stroke that has less than 20 hours on it and a 6 year warranty. All new rigging, steering, stereo and radio. Everything works. Is there a market for a boat that’s 35 years old?

Does anyone know what these are called

That’s very nice of you, thank you. I worked on my bracket and got it loose with some WD-40 and vise grips. The handle crumbled some, but I think I’ll be ok. But thank you again!

Does anyone know what these are called

This is from an older Grady Seafarer, it holds the small bow hatch down. Any idea what they’re called and where I can find one? Im sure they aren’t made any longer. Any suggestions of what I can use in its place?

Looking for a starboard vent window

I’m sure that this is a lost cause, but I’m looking for a vent window for my 1988 Seafarer. I’m sure any vent window from 1985 to 1991 would work, but the later years were a different shape. If anyone has let me know Thanks

Water level - scuppers - new engine

I have the same issue on my Seafarer. I just replaced the rubber flaps because over time they curl and let water in. It fixed the problem, but I’m going to get stainless steel ones next time I replace them. And DEFINITELY change the hoses.

    GW 228 - Scuppers

That may be true but it does however appear as if the wire may have contributed, either way, replace the hoses!!!

    GW 228 - Scuppers

REPLACE THE HOSES!!!! When I replaced mine they crumbled in my hands. For some reason they have a wire on the inside that rusts and destroys the hose

    Livewell Seacock

That a good idea. Yes I pulled the livewell and replaced the hoses and installed a new bilge pump.

    Livewell Seacock

Thanks. I think I need to remove the livewell to get to the seacock. I read somewhere to spray Aero Kroil on the valve

    Livewell Seacock

I have a 1988 Seafarer that I’ve refurbished and it came out really well. I popped a new motor on back and she runs great and everything works, except the raw water pump and wash down. I have a new switch on it and the raw water pump runs as it should. I also installed a new selector valve that...

    SCUPPER HOSE WARNING

I have an old Seafarer, the one that has issues with water coming in the scuppers in the back deck. I was reading about this problem and determined that I needed to replace the scuppers on my transom. They’re the old rubber flapper type and mine we’re original and the rubber was deformed. My...

I need to do this on my boat. Can you tell me which scuppers you purchased? Mine are below the water line.

Seems to be sitting a little low

Mine does have a drain plug on it, but it's up on a lift and I can't access it unless I have a rowboat or kayak, which I don't. I like the idea of tapping on it. I'll absolutely be able to tell if its full water a tap. just like checking transoms for rot. Thanks for the tip. This will be a...

1997 Seafarer 22 question - Water coming in from stern deck drains

I just saw this post. Sorry for asking the same question. My 1988 Seafarer is sitting low also and a little water is coming in through the scuppers by the stern. With mine I’m thinking it’s a combination of old scuppers on the stern allowing water coming in, a new motor that’s a 4-stroke and...

Seems to be sitting a little low

Here’s a question. I’m worried about the bracket being full of water. But if you think about it, if I had a 5 gallon bucket on the back of the boat full of water, that wouldn’t make the boat ride low in the water. Right?

Yes it does and I put 5200 around that as well
