    Winterizing a 232 Gulfstream

There's nothing really different from one boat to another in terms of the pumps/head. It does depend on what type you have - but in the end, a pump is a pump is a pump/etc. If you've done it before, it's really all the same. Was there something specific that you were concerned/confused by?

Adding a Fuel Bladder -- grounding

Someone correct me if I'm not thinking of this correctly or missing something... the only way a spark would be created is if something metal touches the valve - such as when filling a gas tank with the fuel nozzle - which won't happen here.

    Grady Marlin

Your post subject is about a GW Marlin? As far as the site goes, the only ad I see is the top banner ad (often for SIM Yamaha) that has pretty much always been there. I don't see anything different.

    Fuel tank idea - comments?

To add onto what Seasick said... another common cause for corrosion in this area is when water is allowed to sit on the aluminum. Or, more specifically, when aluminum does not have contact with the air. When Al has good oxygen, it will self protect itself. So, the solution, as noted above, is...

question about varying twin engine trim and boat list

I was talking generalities regarding the hull steer phenomenon I was referring to that you quoted. I wasn't referring to any specific boat. Just talking about the hull steer list that happens to pretty much all of them in case that's what you were experiencing

Why does my 228 have 3 pick up thru-hulls?

At 2 decades old, it's very much a moot point whether or not it came from the fatory like that. The next step, now, is to physically ID where the hoses go. We can guess all we want - but since the boat has been in the hands of who-knows-how-many- previous owners, all bets are off. All that...

question about varying twin engine trim and boat list

From my experience, it always seems to be to port. I'm guessing it has something to do with prop spin/weight distribution/wind/current as I don't think there's something inherent about the hull, itself, that determines which way it goes. But it has always seemed to be to port for me, anyways.

question about varying twin engine trim and boat list

Gotcha. Thanks for the clarification. Something to think about... if you're referring to the list to port primarily when the engines or down (or mostly down), that's quite normal for nearly all planing-style hulls. There's too much hull in the water causing too much drag and that's exactly...

question about varying twin engine trim and boat list

It's going to depend on the boat and the engines and distance they are apart from each other. So every boat is going to be a bit different. Trimming up pushes the stern down... which causes the bow to raise. However, it will cause the opposite side of the bow to raise. Meaning, stbd stern...

question about varying twin engine trim and boat list

Use your tabs - they're a great tool. Kinda silly to leave them in the toolbox

Express 330 carbon canister fuel vent location

No, you're good - way to old to have this fantastic EPA thing....

    Journey 258 Vinyl Curtain Replacement

Yup, they are probably better than you are assuming they are. What you need to determine is what you currently have and, well, more importantly, what you WANT. Essentially, you have various thicknesses of vinyl (and slightly different versions of it based on brand) and then polycorbonate or...

Express 330 carbon canister fuel vent location

Good - get that thing out of the mix. Although often times overfilling leads to clogging it, it shouldn't have been there to begin with. EPA oversight.

    Tournament 190, 1986

What is the weight difference between your current engine and your anticipated new engine? What is the Max HP on the CG capacity plate (or look in your manual... it might be there in the specs section)?

    257 trolling motor battery placement.

Make a quick box out of cardboard to simulate the size of the battery or batteries you're thinking about. Easy peasy lemon squeezy to just go play around and see what you like. It really doesn't matter where anyone else, or the factory, put it -- put it where YOU want to.

    282 Sailfish transom stainless cap

Yup - and it was really a band-aid to begin with - trying to cover up an unsealed gap. I can't believe they let that go on for so long.

    Fueling

Hmmm, yeah, that's just not making sense - that when you STOP the flow, it spurts out. So... thinking through this... when fuel is flowing maybe it is overcoming a slight pressure in the tank... but when you slow the flow, the pressure in the tank overcomes the flow rate and it burps back out...

    282 Sailfish transom stainless cap

Do you mean the "bang cap" - the piece that covers the top edge of the transom where the engines sit? It's just a piece of L-channel - you can source that anywhere. Your local dealer probably has the vinyl ones in stock, though - it's a common thing to replace. Well, to replace the...

    Fueling

Hmmm. This isn't making sense. If I'm reading your post right, you are saying that, for example... if you have a nearly empty tank, and you pump 2 gallons into it and then release the lever that fuel will spurt out at you?
