R&R trim tab Actuator -236 fisherman

What power cable? If the tabs are hydraulic there is no power needed. You may have signal cables that connect to actuator to enable the display to show tab position. Why is it that you could feed the hydraulic line but not the date line? If possible you can try to back out the hydraulic line a...

Does anyone make a thru hull plugs to replace thru hull fittings?

I am not sure you want to do that. If you basically remove thru hulls, what will you do with the hoses that fed them. For example, you mention the live well. If you take away the drain , what happens when water gets into the supported equipment. In other words if rain water or se water happens...

    Gas tank hard to fill

The part I don't understand i why the issue became so bad after several years of use and not right away. Regardless, flipping the direction of the check valve solved the problem.

    Yamaha Speedometer inlet

If a quick cleaning with a thin wire doesn't work, I suggest you wait until the next time the water pump is serviced and the lower unit is dropped. There is a space in the LU casting where the pitot hole connects t. It is also where the spedo water flows. That space can get clogged with gunk or...

Towing a GW Adventure 208 One Mile 4x/Year with Chrysler Minivan?

I say its not a good idea in general but I do understand that the run is short. If the trip is not hilly and not at highway speeds, it may be OK. That said, just changing the hitch does not insure that the frame is strong enough for a studier hitch. I also wonder if the minivan would have...

    Gas tank hard to fill

I though you folks would get a kick out of what a fellow boater discovered while trying to figure why he was having so much trouble filling his gas tank. We hear somewhat often about issues where the gas seems to back up in the fill and shuts off the gas flow form the fuel nozzle. That is what...

Yamaha OX66 250 WOT RPM Searching?

Sparkdog brought up a possible cause that I didn't mention. In addition to possible a pickup issue, a partially blocked vent can cause fuel starvation under load when fuel demand is highest. I still would suspect the VST first but it isn't always the issue.

Yamaha OX66 250 WOT RPM Searching?

My first guess would be a clogged VST screen.( or other screen filter if present on high pressure pump pressure regulator.

    Late May Nor'easter

Without lines on one side, tieing up is more of a challenge. Long spring lines will help as can crisscrossed bow an stern lines. The most important item is to make sure that lines are not too short so that they don't pull the boat down ( or cause a list). At some time when serious weather and...

    2014 307 Freedom Steering Issue.

I forgot to mention that a bad/dirty/sticking check valve can cause loss of hydraulic effort. That said, bleed first and go from there. To emphasize Chris's advice, use the special fitting and hose to fill the reservoir. If you don't pay attention and suck air into the head unit, you have to...

20 year old varnish in tank 208

I have to disagree about using non ethanol gas. First of all in many areas like New York, you can not get non ethanol gas for cars or boats. Secondly, adding ethanol gas (fresh gas) has the advantage of absorbing some water, about 1/2% by volume. Adding fresh gas regularly can actually help...

    Flat bunk board wood species?

Bunks have been on about 6 years.Trailer is dunked twice a year, launching and hauling. Trailer lives at the boat club in a salt water / air environment. The fittings that attach the bunks to the trailer are galvanized and aluminum( bunk saddles) . Trailer is aluminum

    Late May Nor'easter

Geometry will do :) think of a triangle with the line being the hypotenuse and the dock line being the base. As the water rises or the hull rises the angle at the dock gets bigger, the hypotenuse stays the same but the base effectively shortens. That results in the boat being pulled towards the...

    Flat bunk board wood species?

No issues on my trailer from PT lumber. You could use non pressure treated framing lumber but it may not last very long. Lots of variables. I think you are correct that the PT wood is Douglas fir.

    2014 307 Freedom Steering Issue.

First step is to check the fluid level at the helm. If low, top off but regardless you will have to bleed the system (correctly!) Although one person can manage to bleed the system, two persons is recommended. Check the Dometic web site for bleeding instructions.

    Flat bunk board wood species?

Here on the east coast, pressure treated lumber (pine) is the norm

    Steam in the exhaust: Problem?

May be nothing to worry about. As mentioned, it usually will stop as engine warms up. When you start your car on a cool day and see steam (actually condensation) do you worry :)

    engine flush 209

In thinking about my solution, I think that I may not need to make any holes or install bulkhead mounted fittings. If I just connect the new hose to the original one, zip tie the hose to the rigging tubes and end the hose with a quick connect in the motor well but easier to get to, I would just...

    engine flush 209

The hose would not be super thin. The normal stub hose of the flush port is 5/16 in or 3/8 inch. It is a soft pliable rubber hose. not like fuel line. For the Reverso system, the short flush hose is eliminated and the new long hose is connected under the cowling to where the flush hose was...

    engine flush 209

A plugged telltale will not affect water flow for flushing. It's purpose is purely to give you a visual indication that the pump is working when the motor is down in the water as well as 'usually' an indication that water is flowing due to the flush hose flow. If the water flow volume is too...
