I have a 265 with the aluminum ones. Not an issue for me. The weight is fine. The only time its and issue is when you are installing them. Once mounted they are great. If you are removing them frequently then I can see where you may want carbon fiber ( and the cool look!)

I like the plate you put down in the bilge. Makes for an extra storage area!!

After looking everywhere I could think of i couldn't find a suitable replacement so I broke down and called GW. Well as I thought a replacement deck only is $265! :jaw So I opted to cut 1/4 inch off the back end that had broke and cap with SS angle and bolt back on. Not bad and should get me...

Finally got time today to clean the hull and bilge. Thanks to all the other posts for the recommendations. I used the ol' 50/50 Bleach and water for the bilge and then a product called on/off for the hull. Both worked great!

I think what your looking for is what is called a rod "Hanger" that is what I have in my 265 anyway. This should work. We don't need the pin base part because the but secions sit on teh wooden saddles. Good luck. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lees-Rod-and-Re ... 602wt_1153

My stock swim platform just cracked and I am in the market for a new/better one. Has anyone replaced theirs? What type? If not does anyone know if the maker of these is garelick (sp?). Hope to get it back on for the abalone diving season. Thanks.

I would agree with staying away from the northern routes. 20 should work though. It avoids the mountains but does skirt Dallas

Wish I could help. I too have one that has a whole in it. Thinking about fiberglassing it but not sure. Let us know if you find a solution.

Were getting quite a few 265's out here on the West Coast! Gonna have to get a yearly gathering together. I will trailer down to fish the early salmon with you guys.

Re: 265 Repower (espcially those with 2001 hulls) I have a 2001 with 2006 Yamaha 250's. I have not raised the scuppers and have had no problems. They are lower but it makes little difference esspecially when on the water.
