    Transom Construction

I think a very long time. Started as a cosmetic piece to cover the hull liner to hull joint. Too lazy or cost prohibitive to glass it over, so cover it up. It later moved from aluminum to a plastic or phenolic material, then to a larger stainless steel piece on today's boats.

Looks like GW got the message

yea. now fix the seam and trying to cover it up with a piece of stainless. It needs to be glassed over.

Replacing floor drains on a 282 Sailfish

Most you have to cut a hole or two. My glass guy wanted to go thru the hull itself and has done a few this way, I haven't done it yet because cutting the hull doesn't feel right!

1995 Grady White 272 Sailfish "Floating Transom Cap" excessive movement

Get a good glass shop to have a look at it. Likely some damage but left as-is it will get much worse.

    Lay Out Outriggers

Base = Mount. I guess you could do that or just leave em folded back.

Checked out a Freedom 415 yesterday.... still don't get it

I kinda feel the same way about the entire bow riding line. If I was going to buy that style boat, I wouldn't buy a Grady. I'd get a lower tier boat and pocket the money. That being said, all boats are a compromise so buy and spend what you want.

    Lay Out Outriggers

I think I'd keep the bases and remove the poles and store if you have the room. As stated, if you sell it, it would be a negative not to have the poles. The side wishbone mounts fold up tight and the center rigger is out of the way. Who knows, you may get into fishing as some point.

    Seat Bushing?

Maybe check with GW Cust Service. They may field this question a lot as it is a plastic wear item.

    2005 Gulfstream

When they drop the lowers they will use a borescope and be able to go up the mid section and determine condition. The coating on the exhaust parts is black. Coating failure or corrosion will be easily seen (bright aluminum). I'd do it for piece of mind or just roll the dice and don't worry...

    Patching old mounting holes?

You can get fiberglass strands or make your own. Mix with resin and work into the holes. Could try MarineTex on top to finish and look for a matching gelcoat to brush on.

How many degrees radar wedge needed for 2006 Gulfstream Hardtop .

I used 7.5 degree wedges for my outriggers. Not sure how the Marlin translates to your boat though. Might be good to play with wood until you get something that works and then see what you can find on the web.

Joining the list of Grady owners who have to repower or give it away…

If the hull is in good shape, the boat fits your needs, fuel tanks ok or better yet replaced I'd repower. Anything you buy will depreciate faster and likely cost you more. The tanks and motors are the big items if the hull is decent.
