    Canvas enclosure

I've contacted a couple of canvas cover manufacturers but they either carry full boat covers or T-top canvas, which I don't need. My Sailfish has a hard top, what I'm looking for is a canvas enclosure that mimics the plastic window panels, e.g. the canvas would attach under the hardtop, cover...

    Yamaha repower questions

From what I've read, the Sailfish 282 accepts either 225's or 250's, 500 hp is the maximum for the boat.

    Yamaha repower questions

Hello all, Eventually I'm going to repower my Sailfish with either two new F225's or two F250's; I know there's a lot of static on various forums, especially The Hull Truth, about Yamaha engines but I believe they're a sound design. Has anyone repowered recently with brand new Yamahas? Do...

    1992 Grady-White Sailfish 25' Radar Mount Help

Another issue to consider is any electronic items mounted to the hardtop, specifically radio antennas or GPS stuff. If you haven't already you should read Nigel Calder's chapter on this very subject, it's eye-opening. The book is available on Amazon and is called "Boat Owner's Mechanical and...

    272 Sailfish FM/AM Radio Replacement

West Marine carries two kits, a Dual Digital Media Receiver (DMR) with 2 speakers and another model with 4 speakers. The larger one is listed for $145, you can probably find it online for less.

    Engine temp and oil pressure

I'd like to be able to see the engine temperatures and oil pressure on my 2003 Yamaha 225 four strokes. Apparently Yamaha addressed this in 2005 with an upgrade to the wiring loom so you could connect the engines to an NMEA 2000 circuit. My Yamaha gauges just have a high temp alarm; other than...

    Anchor Rope Storage Capacity?

I replaced mine, the chain looked suspect as I found rust on some of the links. I'm proud to say in a Sailfish 282 you can store 500' of 5/8" 8-plait in the anchor locker as well as 35' of 1/4" chain.

    Grady-White fan from Europe....

Hi, great first post! What do you mean by "in the area" - Europe or the U.S.? The Internet is your friend with this search, I imagine it would be far less expensive to find the boat you want in the EU.

    $5,300 out the door

Sometimes the best thing is to say, ok, no problem, I'll find one elsewhere. Sounds like there's a lack of communication between the people at the dealer.

    Mystery switches

Dennis, what I meant is - the 282 Sailfish comes with 12 switches in the standard configuration; if the buyer chooses the option package then the switch panel is upgraded to the 14 switch configuration, that's what I have. There is a list in the manual and I'll follow your suggestion to trace...

    Mystery switches

DennisG01, Journeyman, I've done both, the switches match up with the standard ones and I did check behind the access plate, they have wires. Since I'm new to the boat I'm not sure what might be a switched option! But yes, it's fun to figure out. Thank you both.

    Mystery switches

Going through my Sailfish and making things new, on my list is the switch panel at the helm. There are two rows of 7 rocker switches and on several the picture has worn off. As the Sailfish had 12 switches standard, it indicates the purchasing owner went for the options. Here's what I've...

    Latest MFD, Sonar and Radar

I just acquired a 2003 Sailfish 282 and am going through the same research; there's 10 year old electronics on the boat and whereas they seem to work (albeit the Furuno chart plotter has a "South Chesapeake Bay" GPS card and I'm in Southern California), the new generation of electronics is...
