Need some measurements please for a older Seafarer Hardtop

Looking at the photographs the walk around width looks the same as a 228 meaning you would need to move all the vertical support in a substantial amount the retain the walk around space on a 228. That is a lot of cutting and welding to make it fit. I am thinking a custom made one may be cheaper.

Does anyone have the new SHARROW propellers on their Grady white 330

In June last year it was announced that Yamaha would be producing Sharrow Propellors by casting instead of CNC. Was expecting the price to drop significantly. But it hasn’t. Wondering if Yamaha is producing for new boats rigged with Yamaha outboards only. The attached article has a photograph...

    2001 268 Islander very unstable.

So when you say it is leaning from one side to another does the bow continue to track straight or is the boat weaving? If it is weaving then it sounds like bow steering. More weight towards the transom trim tabs up a motor trimmed out would help. If the boat is tracking straight does it occur...

    Sharrow Props

I’m looking for a bit more range to turn a 1.5 day gamefishing trip into a full 2 days. So a Sharrow prop may be the difference between installing an auxiliary fuel tank or not. Running back to port on those 15 to 20kn afternoons I find planing speed a little too fast and so I’m having to be on...

Dash panel removal to get to Gages on a 2008 226 Seafarer

My 2006 228 has a box in the cabin to access the back of the electronics. Can’t remember if you can access the fuel/speed gauge.

    300 Marlin Transom

Really suggest getting your own survey. Best money you can spend when buying a used boat. The older the boat is the more important.

What do you do with your rods while trailering?

With my 228 when I am trailering I have 4 in the vertical rod holders in front of the live bait tank. Two in the holders under the gunwales. The others gunwale holders hold gaffs and a tag pole. Four in the cabin roof holders and the rest on the cabin bunk. For longer rods in the cabin I also...

    Outriggers on a 228?

I used clamps to go around the hardtop tubing. You could use u-bolts. If you are mounting straight through the hardtop I think overtime you will get stress fractures from flexing.

Fitted trailer bunks for a 22' Seafarer?

I have my 228 on a Loadrite bunk trailers with carpet on the bunks. I have bottom paint and that isn’t wearing off where the bunks slide. For launching I have about an 8ft rope attached to the winch post and bow roller. I back in until I see the stern start to float and with a slight touch on...

Newbie Purchasing a new Gulfstream 232

The first question is have you had boats before, because the idea of owning a boat and the reality can quite different. They are quite expensive to run and maintain. Usage is weather dependent and always seems to be, that when you have the time to use it the weather is crap and when the weather...

Anyone Offshore in an Adventure 208?

It's really more about the experience of the skipper than the boat. The 208 is a very capable . Much more capable than the boats I used to 20-30miles offshore in my younger years. Start with trips close to shore. Get to know the boat and do what you feel comfortable with. You need to go out...

    Trailering with Eisenglass

I find it ok to tow with it up on multi lane highways at 60mph. On 2 lane highways meeting large trucks coming the other way, the clips become unattached letting the enclosure flap around causing rub marks on the eisenglass.

Things I’ve Done To My 228

Mounted 2 Maxel MTR08 teaser reels under the hardtop using round HDPE blocks with a hole that accepts the rear rocket launcher bolt allowing the reels to be mounted through the rocket launcher mounting plates. Waiting on an SCX20 satellite compass so I can install a Furuno NavPilot 300...
