Thinking of upgrading to Islander 268 from the 228. Anyone in Eastern NC have one I can look at?

Sorry to hijack without an an answer. Will you also consider the 270? You may already know this, but it is essentially the same boat except the running bottom was extended to the transom to support the weight of the newly popular four strokes. I do believe the last year of the 268 had that fully...

Weight and dimensions of every Grady model...

I remember a factory rep telling me that the 271 hull was only ever going to be a center console. So the forward 'V' could be 'sharper' with a deeper forefoot. It was not the same 27' hull as the previous 270, which had to carry more weight forward, or the current 275. But I did not realize that...

    Anyone do Coast Guard registration?

I have a Sailfish and honestly never thought about it. We've done the Great Loop, and so have travelled through many states with several CG safety checks and it has never come up. We took a side trip into Canada and I thought I had studied all the requirements and even met those I didn't have...

Congrats on finding someone you trust. Looking forward to seeing the progression.

Buying boat from Out of State, and having it shipped? Has anybody done it ?

No guarantees of course, but I believe if you choose from the International Association of Marine Surveyors that Mustang provided, you'll be satisfied. Verify that your selected surveyor really is a member and isn't on probation or anything like that. Ask what all is included in the survey. Will...

1997 Islander 268 Transom Rebuild Project

Sorry that you're doing this. But you've done well for a nearly 30-year old boat. Hoping you'll post pics along the way. My boat might be there some day. I do what I can to not be, but time and water...

    1993 gulfstream helm seat

Welcome to the Forum. I do believe that all Grady seats of that era were made by Pompanette. So you might be able to try a google search for the Pompanette part you need. Or you can contact Pompanette directly. It may be the only route. It will surely be the more expensive route! Hopefully...

Buying boat from Out of State, and having it shipped? Has anybody done it ?

I did nearly the exact same as Coastboater when buying a Sailfish out of Maryland. Only difference is that I have a good relationship with a boat hauler already and he went and got it for me when the deal was done. Hard part for me was finding a surveyor who wasn't already at least known to the...

Lost trim tab flap – 1999 Grady-White 306 Bimini – OEM part reference needed

Sorry that I can't answer your questions specifically. Firstly, the Bennet guy who was so helpful to me was at 866-894-1626. What I can share is that, like you, I got a number from Grady and then called Bennet. They already had me in their system, unfortunately, and immediately knew my boat...

    New Member

Welcome to the forum! I hope your pump has more space around it than mine does. I use a tiny funnel to pour the automatic transmission fluid with an absorbent pad beneath, just in case. Maybe put some blue masking tape on the hard-to-see fill lines. And a ... Hell, you're 81, you've probably...

    Stupid question, but need help

No where near a stupid question. I've topped that many times. Actually a very good question and you got some very good answers. Answers that I'll want to refer to when I need to "beautify" the helm.

Had no idea that the fridges had evolved so much. And I gave mine away to the kid who helped me pull mine out!

Recommendations for mat for stern of boat when boarding to be over swim ladder??

Looks like there is room on the three sides of the ladder for a thin, Starboard 'box-top'. Maybe the top would be thicker than the sides? Then you could put non-skid on the top? If there is as much room on the three sides of the ladder as I'm thinking, the Starboard sides could be thick enough...

    Refrigerator...

Good correction from Dr. Batts. I have not seen fridges that run on 30 amp. But, assuming you have a battery charger, your fridge's draw from the batteries can be maintained.

New 285 Freedom on the way!

On the older fridges you just turned the circular knob inside the fridge all the way to the warmest setting and you felt the smallest of 'clicks' and that was the 'off' position. I'm not sure about the newer ones. I presume that you could also just turn of the the fridge breaker on your 12 volt...

    Potti for Fisherman 180

We had the Spirit 175 - the predecessor to your 180. We put a port-potta in the center console. And the rule was whomever used it had to empty it at the end of the day. It was rarely used. Eventually we just pulled it out on the forward deck for use and everyone else just understood to stay...

    Refrigerator...

In my opinion, usefulness depends on how your boat is stored. If your boat is stored with shore power, then you can load your fridge with drinks the night before and have the fridge powered by the 30-amp shore power. When you head out the next day, you'll turn shore power off and switch the...

    Scupper hoses

I don't see a problem with a quality 8" plate. I believe there is room - but double check! The dealer just went with the smaller plate. At the time, we did a lot of diving, so fully loaded divers were stepping on that plate as they came out of the water. Never a problem.

Trim tabs getting damaged when forklift lifts boat

Sorry to revive a two-year old thread. But I'd like to know if you're still happy with your cut-down trim tabs? If so, how did you go about finding a place to do the work? I would have assumed that the mounting plate and screw holes would be lathered with 5200, but maybe not? There is another...
