Thinking of Getting Back in the Game

Enough Already, I was in the same "boat" literally. I had a 272, then a 265. I sold the 265 last year and now have a 232 Gulfstream which I really like. I like the 257 as well but the wife wanted a larger cockpit and a cabin for storage.

Busted for riding on the bow

I actually called two Wildlife officers is NC about this last year. One told me he didn't know which beats my mind and the other said it was OK after seeing pictures of the vessel. it was a 265 and has a cushion and rails.

    Grady White 265 Express

I have owned a 272, 265 and now a 232 Gulfstream. The 265 was a 2001 and I sold it this past year and picked up the 232. The 265 will really cut through chop and is a really good looking Grady. I like the looks of the Express type boat but it makes it very difficult to get to the bow while...

I forgot to get pictures of the base mounts but did measure the width for the base holes. They are 13 1/8 inches on center.

    265 Express Question

Thanks to everyone's input. Like I mentioned, I really am pleased with the boat but I came from a Grady 272 and the sensitivity is different. in the limited time I have had it in the ocean, I have noticed that it seems to cut the waves better in rough seas. Not that the 272 was a bad ride by...

    2001 265 Express seat backs...

TunaHunter, On the port side I drilled holes in the top of the livewell. I was concerned about this but it actually isn't a big deal. The bases and seat supports go into the livewell about 12 inches. You could make it shorter but I wanted to have some support. For when the seat backs are...

    2001 265 Express seat backs...

Sorry, I am not sure why the photos rotated. Hopefully you will be able to at least get an idea. I had pieces of plastic and foam installed on each side of the seats to give support and cushion. The seats are removable and the base is fixed. Not sure what the base is called but it looks...

SeaShift, I had some fabricated and they turned out great. It really does make the seating better. I will get pictures and post them with the mounts.

    265 Express Question

I have purchased a 2001 265 Express and have a few questions regarding the handling characteristics. To begin with, I really like this boat. The layout is very well done for fishing and has enough of the comforts for family as well. My question is around the "bow steer" that has been...

    2001 265 Express seat backs...

Sea Monkey, That is nice work on the seats. I have a 2001 265 and would like to do something similar. How did you install the bracket mounts? do you have to get access under the seats by removing the livewell and storage locker? Thanks, Girt

    A New Grady Owner (almost)

Just to clarify, the 3M Di-Noc is a wrap. So the insturment panels are not totally carbon fiber. I have seen places that will fabricate them for you if you send them the pattern.

    A New Grady Owner (almost)

I will get some photos and post them. For the instrument panels, I used the old wood panels and took the gauges and rocker switches out. I then got some 3M Di-Noc Carbon fiber and then put the gauges back in. The stuff is pretty durable and is applied to cars sometimes. That is the same...

    A New Grady Owner (almost)

Congratulations. I purchased a 1996 272 Sailfish this winter and have taken it out fishing a few times. I really like this boat. Mine also needed cosmetic work so I had it wet sanded, new decals, new cushions, redid the instrument panels in carbon fiber, installed a flush mount nav system...
