    Need Gulfstream Info

My 1988 GW Gulfstream came set up for 2 batteries, one on either side (port & starboard, inside smaller hatches) with one battery switch on the starboard side: Battery Off, 1, 2, or Both.

    gas tanks

Sold my 1988 Gulfstream 3 years ago and the 27 yo tanks were in great shape. If you lift the floor boards out you can visually inspect the tops and most of the tank sides. I had access to a fiber optic camera to look underneath the tanks and did not see any need for a leak (pressure) test. As...

    94 gulfstream prop question

On my Gulfstream w/bracket, I'm spinning 13 3/4 x 17" CR Yamaha props (Yamaha 150's) and hitting 5500rpm right on the nose.

    Gulfstream 232 Motor Bracket

Are you sure the foam is waterlogged or just wet on the outside? The foam in mine is closed cell and does not hold any water. Supposedly, the foam is in there is to displace any (additional) water that does get in, as opposed to having a bracket completely full of water.

    232 cuddy

No. The back rest flips up to make 2 bunk beds. Then what I did was use a board (plywood) cut out to fit on the lip below the sink and exact height over to the seat, added a cushion and made the surface wider. Saw a 232 rigged this way from factory and just copied. Will fit 2 people side by side.

    Gulfstream 232 Motor Bracket

On my GW 232 bracket, I resealed the bracket with 5200 and never had a drop in it since (only slight weep first year I had it). My bracket came set up for a Volvo zinc between the 2 engines. You could be getting water in there as the 2 holes do go thru (I sealed carefully with same 5200). I use...

Help me choose: 232 vs. 265 vs. 282

I have the 23' Gulfstream and it's cockpit is the same size as the Sailfish, but less cabin and amenities inside that I don't need or would use. The difference is I can use 25% less HP (twin 150s versus twin 200s or 225s) with a sizeable fuel burn difference. As posters above said, all depends...

    Thru-hull replacement '97 Gulfstream

My Gulfstream is a couple years older than yours and I have done them but be prepared for a lot of scraped & cut wrists and forearms. Access is tight. It's a PITA but doable...

    Adding a Downrigger to a 232 Gulfstream

Can't help you with the rod holder mount as I mounted my Penn 625 on a swivel base (dr is thus removeable and frees up a rod holder) on the port corner of my Gulfstream. No backing plate was needed as corner was close to 1 1/4" thick. I did use large ss fenders washers as backing as my 12lb ball...

Fuel Tank material for 265 Express and 232 Gulfstream

My 1988 232 (always saltwater moored) tanks are mint. I did replace the fuel lines but never the tanks...

    Gulfstream Repower

I have an '88 Gulfstream with twin Yamaha 2S on a bracket and have been looking into this as well (re-power with Yamaha 4S's). My GW/Yamaha dealer is saying no real issues, either with the weight or the clearance between the engines (on the bracket). The 2 Gulfstreams I have seen re-powered with...

1987 25ft sailfish fuel tank leaking

Suggestion: check/pull your fuel fill hose first And see if that is your leak. That what happened To mine 5 years ago; and again this year. Tanks Were fine. More than shocked when I discovered My last fuel fill hose didn't last 5 years...

    Fuel Tank/Fuel Lines Replacement

I did my 1988 23' Gulfstream fuel, vent and fill lines some years ago but have no pictures. All my fuel fill and vent lines were caulked/silicone'd to the bulkheads/stringers where they passed thru (believe there were 2 for each fuel fill) but once I got them freed up, they pulled up and out...

    Downrigger for Gulfstream

I have a Penn 625 downrigger with swivel base on my GW Gulfstream (full transom/bracket) and went with the 48" boom. I don't use the rod holder on the downrigger, as I found it easier to use with the rod holder in the gunnel (with safety lanyard). Absolutely use a backing plate with or without...

Where to get replacement bow pulpit?

Once in a while they show up on eBay. If yours is not too bad of shape, they can be repaired with Bondo. Fiberglass guys around here absolutely HATE them (extremely hard to repair).

    Cabin Rod Holder Rubber Bands

That's what I did-used bulk bungy cord (West Marine and others sell by the foot) and a couple ss hog rings per. Hog ring at tab and then to connect the 2 ends together. If they cost me a quarter to 50 cents each, I'd be surprised. Plus, got color I wanted, as someone mentioned above.

    handling twin outboard motors

I have a Gulfstream w/T-150s on a bracket and she can spin 360 on her boat length. Can even walk her sideways with a bit of practice. Let someone said earlier, you'll never want to go back to a single engine. One trick is if you have a bracket is to tip your engines slightly up, so the prop wash...

Yamaha Oil tank bracket replacement 232 gulfstream

I was able to scrape/Rustoleum the bottom piece but had to fabricate the top cross/hold down piece out of some stock aluminum I got at Home Depot. So far, so good...

    mixing ethanol/non ethanol fuel

I got a ton of red gelly guck and lots of fine, fine yellow particulates almost like sand when I inadvertantly mixed E-10 in with my MTBE fuel. Turns out this was just as my State was doing the changeover (Spring of year) to E-10 and the gas pumps were not yet marked (nor notice to the public)...
