    OX66 225 over heats

No I never run it on muffs. It was in the ocean. All is good now, I ended up using my 2 year old impeller housing with the old style bushing. The new style allows water at low speed to leak past the pickup tube.

    OX66 250

I see the ox66's sell for around $5000, I bought my 228 with a 0x66 225 in 2020 and love it. I thought I would repower but I can't see spending money when this motor runs so good. I only checked MPG once it was just under 2 miles per gallon. I get oil at wal-mart for $17 a gallon. Sure I would...

Looking for a Seafarer 1997 or newer

Bought my 228 from north Carolina in 2020 and had it shipped out to California. I couldn't afford to buy one out here. It was cheaper buying it on line, ordering a survey, having new tires installed on the trailer and hiring a driver through Uship.

Actually after looking at your schematic it looks like I didn't have a couple of parts. The piece between 6 & 7 was not on when I originally took it apart and I don't seem to have a number 7 in my kit.

I just removed the lower unit and I think I found the problem. It's missing the rubber bushing where the pickup tube enters the top of the impeller housing. I guess I had my head up my ass when I put it together.

My order from simm Yamaha just arrived. I'm confident this will solve the overheating issue. I've ordered a impeller kit from my local dealer [30 miles from me] and its never come with everything like this kit.

Yes I'm going to pull the LU this week. I greased it during install, It doesn't overheat at high speeds and the pee stream is not as powerful at idle as it was before impeller replacement. It's possible I put something in the wrong order but I didn't think so? I'll order another impeller kit and...

    WTB 1998- 2004 228 seafarer

Bids were $2500 to $5800 I chose a contractor for $2700, he lost a wheel bearing in Wyoming on a Friday night. I didn't sleep at all that night. But He was great, I found a shop 35 miles from him. He babied it to the shop and was back on the road Saturday afternoon. I tipped him $400 so the...

That one on the east coast looks like a good deal. I had my 228 delivered from North Carolina during the covid shutdown, right about $3000 through Uship.

I replaced it two years ago when I bought the boat. I found a video on line showing it, I remember using a 3/8" dowel to help insert it. I'll search for the video again.
