Jumping out of my skin - anyone else?

I live in PNW too. Landed two blackmouths 2 weeks ago, squidded in January and February, prawns open on May 16, Ling cod soon, I'd run up to BC if I didn't have kid obligations. Plenty of options if willing to run and can dodge the weather. But yes summer salmon fishing is awesome.

Michigan salmon fisherman wants to make trip west

We all are drooling over the live squid mooching video. That's an anomaly and I hope to experience it once in my lifetime. But lots of skippers will mooch herring. You could find one to try it. How far you want to travel? August is prime time for west side Vancouver island. Great experience...

Twin outboard bracket - angle and set back

What angle and setback should I be looking for new outboard bracket? I have 1997 Gulfstream and looking to upgrade to higher floatation bracket. I have opportunity to pick up a used bracket but unsure if it'll fit correctly...it would save lots of $$ so hopeful I can make it work. TIA for...

1998 Gulf Stream motor weight - deck drains water height

..and bigger motors would only hurt min planning speed. More weight in back. Trim and tabs might help. Props might help too as i am told the four blades help keep ass end up, but i bought with gour blades so i dont know i don't know what it was like before

1998 Gulf Stream motor weight - deck drains water height

I run four blade props of 15 degree iirc, so that may be factor in getting out of hole when loaded. Engines run 6000 rpm at Wot so I could probably prop up to get topend speed, but I like easy holeshots. Boat is rated for 350 hp. I dunno what that does for insurance if you exceed max rating...

1998 Gulf Stream motor weight - deck drains water height

I have this same year with twin 150s yamaha. I just got back from week-long fishing trip. 150s pushed us along great. Fully loaded with 180 gallon fuel, four 160 quarters cooler full of ice and cases of beer and it Popped right up on plane. Cruised at 26 knots burning 17 gph. Dunno how fast...

    Bracket cap leaking - 1998 232

After I looked lore closely I realized my issue wasnt the plate but rather the bracket started gapping away from transom in spots. Might have been bad caulk job finally giving out or wet transom morphing. I know the transom is a little wet so that likely is root cause. I'm trying to get...

    Bracket cap leaking - 1998 232

I had similar issues. I installed Armstrong compression deck plate. Had to cut bigger hole in bracket to fit deck plate. You only have one chance so go slow and measure twice. Been in the water for a month and it's doing great. I wanted easily remove able plate so I could remove water from...

    Keeping cubby door open?

Spring door attach Something like this is on my 97 Gulfstream. Works great and no fussing around to set it up. Just open and it expands and it's locked. To close its just a tap on the spring. It was stayed open in rough seas, allowing me to get pummeled by sunglasses binoculars and other shit...

    Gil Inspection plate parts

I removed the inspection plate for my Gill outboard bracket. There was no ring, and several of the screws were stripped. Are replacement parts available? If not, any suggested alternatives?

Major failure from rot and delamination

Recently I was asking myself the same thing. If my transom was soft in spots, I'd love to send it until I was ready to repower. But I'm pretty sure I'd have one eye on the transom whenever in any weather. And my wife would never step on the boat if she had an inkling of the situation.

Seeking bracket photos (inside and detached)

I've ordered inspection camera, so that is great recommendation. I believe the previous owner used 5200 below waterline. So sounds like I'm in for a rodeo. I'll do search online later to see. If there are any helpful hints.

Seeking bracket photos (inside and detached)

This was the only drain plug. About two inches across. I didn't have tools at ramp to open it, so I just siphoned the water out. But honestly not sure I would have had the courage to start cranking on that. It looks pretty well set in and I'm not 100% sure it's even threaded. If others are...

Seeking bracket photos (inside and detached)

Does anyone have pictures of the inside of your brackets – either through camera or detached from transom? I have ’97 Gulfstream 232, with twin F150 Yamahas. Pulled boat for engine service today and checked the bracket since it had been sitting lower than normal Bingo! Filled to the brim with...

Installing Swim Ladder - what type of caulking needed?

Thanks for the great suggestions! I was going to go with the epoxy suggestion, but realized that I already have about 10 other screws/bolts in the swimstep and I'm pretty sure none of those holes were epoxy sealed....so don't overbuild for my new holes. I'll go with counter sink and gasket...

Installing Swim Ladder - what type of caulking needed?

What type of material is the OEM swim step? Is it wood core, or plastic throughout? I’m installing a telescoping ladder to make it easier to climb back aboard after swimming. The ladder kit comes with wood screws, but I’m going to use through bolts. Wondering if I need to worry about caulking...
