    Fuel Gauge Problem

1986 Sailfish 255 - Both tanks were replaced with new senders last year and all worked fine. Now when I select the main tank the indicator pegs hard to empty and I just put 40gals of fuel in. I did replace my switch panel but that went pretty well....i thought... Aux Tank works, no problem...

    Bottom Paint on Metal

I'm using a bottom paint with 45% copper and I'm wondering if I can use this on the trim tabs and outboard engine brackets? I dont paint the anodes but will they still protect from corrosion or should I be using a different type of paint on the metals? Thnaks in advance!!

    New Panel by VectorLed

Hi Frank, Scott just built a panel for my 1986 Sailfish 255. I emailed him the demensions and actually had it made an inch longer because I have some room to trim. That allowed him to properly fit all the (11) switches and breakers I wanted. I'm lucky to live one town over from him and went to...

    Smokin' Johnson!!

I've got twin 1996 175hp Ocean Pro's on my '86 255 Sailfish. Both engines run pretty well except for the excessive smoke on the starboard engine. Both engines got new VRO's last year and all was good. Carbs on the SB motor are wet and oil will pool beneath them when sitting on the mooring a...

    Carb leak?

Hi Everyone, Finally launched this morning and knew something wasn't right when I saw fuel on the water. Took the cover off the port eng and found fuel pouring from a hole at the bottom of the middle carb bowl. We noticed there was some type of ball the size of a BB in the other carbs held in...

    Need Gas Tank

What's the contact info for RDS Aluminum? I may need to replace the forward tank in my '86 Sailfish255. Topped it off the other day and strong fumes in the cabin nearly knocked me out. Gonna remove the hatch and see what's up. There is fuel on top of the tank and all the hoses appear to be...

VRO Tank Low Oil Level Alarm

Thanks. I will trace the wires back to the port side like you said. I think I may have seen the wire you're talking about My manual says to ground the tan/yellow wire at the pump connector but I don't have a tan/yellow wire, only tan. Don't want to mess things up at this point...she's ready to...

VRO Tank Low Oil Level Alarm

There are a pair of wires on each pick up at the VRO tank. Alarm legend at the helm says horn should sound every 40 seconds with a low oil condition. I've read that you could connect a 50:1 mix fuel tank to test the no oil alarm but I don't have a quick disconnect fitting at the engine. Are...

VRO Tank Low Oil Level Alarm

Hi Guys, Looking for some info on testing VRO tank level alarm. I've got twin 1995 Johnson 175's so there is no system check lights, only the horn at the ignition. It's got one oil tank with 2 pick ups. The horns do chirp every time the ignition key is turned on so I have to assume the...

    Trailer Tires

You're right it may be marginal or not enough...The axles have stickers that read 3700#.....I'm going to guess the hull with engines and fuel topped off maybe close to 6400#....Don't know what the trailer alone weighs but I could be border line or above 7400 GVW.....Maybe I should look for...

    Trailer Tires

Tires are new last year and are Load Range C rated for 1760# @ 50psi cold air pressure...All brakes and hose replaced with tires but not sure about the wheel bearings, I'll have to ask about that.....That's what sparked my concern was that the tires are new and ride sort of low...Air pressure on...

    Trailer Tires

Hi..I joined last year and finally got a GW this year..An '86 Sailfish255 very well kept...Got a few questions but I'll start with the trailer tires first. Previous owner put new radials on the twin axle 7200# trailer. They are trailer tires but even with proper air pressure they bellow and ride...
