12V Circuit Breaker Tripping for Fresh Water Pump

There may be a problem with the switch. It may have something internal that shorts the power to ground when in the off position. I assume the switch is a console mounted type like a rocker switch. In any case, if possible pull the connector with the wire that feeds the pump and try touching it...

94' ish 209 escape access hatch

The spec for the access plate is the opening size not the outermost measurement. In your case it looks like a 6 inch model. Here is a link to the Beckson catalog pages for pry out plates. https://www.beckson.com/files/deckplate/180924_deck%20plate.pdf Finding white should be easy. Colors are...

    Fuel tank sender gasket

Measure the diameter of a circle that lines up with the holes. If that measurement is 2 1/8 inch your gasket is a standard SAE 5 hole version. There are various other size mounts for KUS senders ( including SAE). If you have your sender model number, KUS should be able to give you the gasket specs

282 Sailfish - Water in fuel!?!?

Years back I left the gas cap on the gunnel off. We have a horrific rain storms for a couple of nights so to cover all bases, I pulled the sender and pumped out a few gallons from the bottom of the tank. Absolutely no water! My point is that assuming water doesn't pool on top of the fill...

It is a standard item. Any marine store would have one assuming it is the round one with five holes. Here is a West Marine sample...

282 Sailfish - Water in fuel!?!?

A few years ago, I was asked to look at a boat that was recently launched for the season but broke down during the first trip. The motor stuttered and died multiple times and then wouldn't start at all. It was a small pontoon with a 90HP Merc. I pulled the water separator out and dumped its...

    Yamaha 115 4 stroke sputter/stalling. Help!

Good plan. One comment though; The clear bowl on the gas filter (motor mounted) should not be full. If it is, you may have an air leak somewhere. It is normally almost full. Not seating the plastic bowl correctly is a common issue especial since the bowl rims tend to distort out of round. The...

282 Sailfish - Water in fuel!?!?

Most of the things you did were fine. Two things were not 100% correct. The first is in general you should not use sealant on the sender gasket. Using it isn't the worst thing in the world but using the wrong sealant can cause issues. You stated you used the correct sealant The second is that...

    Yamaha 115 4 stroke sputter/stalling. Help!

My bad.I did look up 2 stroke.. In this case, ignore my comments. I would definitely measure fuel pressure output at the VST first as well as checking filters and the like. Are you able to squeeze the primer bulb (motor not running) until it gets firm? When the motor acts up does the primer bulb...

    Yamaha 115 4 stroke sputter/stalling. Help!

I strongly recommend that you get a genuine Yamaha pump. There are some garbage pumps on the aftermarket world. The Yami pump is not that expensive, $50 maybe? You may see that there are rebuild kits. Don't be tempted.

282 Sailfish - Water in fuel!?!?

How did you test for water in the fuel? How did you filter the tanks? The most accurate way to check for water is to pull the sender and either hand pump out a sample or buy water detection paste that you apply to a thin stick and dunk in the tank. In addition, if you drained a half gallon of...

    Yamaha 115 4 stroke sputter/stalling. Help!

Not easily. If it has never been replaced, it probably is time... I see there is only one for your motor part number 6E5-24410-10-00 If you have access to a fuel pressure tester, the first step would be to test the pressure at the VST output. If the low pressure pump is bad, the VST will get...

    Hydraulic steering problem

It could take a while. It all depends on how small or large an internal leak there is. One trick to avoid having to hold the wheel for a period of time is to turn the wheel to one side and hang a heavy weight from a rope tied to the wheel at a spoke position that is horizontal. The weight...

    Hydraulic steering problem

this is a pretty old thread. You may want to start a new one. In the meantime, do this test. With the motor down, turn the wheel in one direction until you reach the end on the movement. Put a reasonable amount of pressure , hold the wheel with the pressure applied, note where the wheel is (...
