89' 232 Gulfstream tips on draining fuel tanks

Thanks for the info. I have the same problem. I bought the boat and the aux tank has fuel that is at least two years old, well i should say a blend, I put some fresh in it but then I had motor problems unrelated to the fuel. The main tank was stored with some in it but I also added stabil. I...

89' 232 Gulfstream tips on draining fuel tanks

Hello, Recently had to replace my 350 I/O. I am thinking it would be smart to drain the tanks and not run the questionable fuel that was in the boat when purchased. The plan is to fill my vehicles with the fuel that is in the boat and refill the tanks in the spring. The boat is currently...

Gulfstream 23 water in bilge area

Lots in my 1989 Gulfstream. When I say lots, I mean enough to make someone think it could be an issue. But I recently pulled my I/O 350 out and found that the setup for the bilge is on a raised pad if you will. This pad sits higher and holds the pump and auto float. That said, it will never...

    1989 Gulfstream window seal replacement

Does anyone know if new seals are available from Grady White? Or has anyone ever replaced or repaired the old ones? I haven't quite figured out where I have water coming into the cabin yet, but I assume its the seals. Thanks for any help.

Correct Prop Size for 1989 Gulfstream I/O

Thanks. I think the prop is more than likely correct. I think my issue is in the fuel system or my timing. The boat performs great after plane. Sputters and struggles at times to get over 3000 rpm's.

Correct Prop Size for 1989 Gulfstream I/O

Does anyone know what the correct prop size would be for my boat. It has a 350 Mercruiser with 260hp. Also an alpha one. I dont know the gear ratio of the alpha. My boat is working very hard to get on plane, once on plane it runs great. Thanks for the help.

    Considering outriggers....looking for suggestions

If your interested I have a set that I will never use on my Grady. They are Lee Side mounts. I fish the Great Lakes and will never use them. Other than making the boat look sweet, or to hold a muskie net I have no use for them. They have the 2" tubes and 18' screw together aluminum poles. Good...

Thoughts on Cruising speed for 1989 23 GS

I am a new used Grady owner and I finally took her to the water on Sunday. I have a I/O, 350 mercruiser. I was running around 3600 rpm and cruising at 23/24mph. Is this about right? I tried to wind it up and it started to backfire at 4000. No plans on running at 4k, I was just trying to see how...

    fille hose replacement

Not sure on your deck layout. But I just replaced mine in a 1989 23 Gulfstream. It was a challenge but can be done. I had to cut an access hole in the gunnel near the fuel fill point. Then I removed the deck, disconnected the lines. I connected the new line with two zip ties and electrical tape...

    Adding a holding tank in a 1989 23 Gulfstream

Bob, I called Grady today. The guy I spoke to said that was not an option to have a holding tank. Oh well. I think I am going to pull the current one out that flushes over the side and just drop in a portipotti. I wish I didnt have to, but I cannot pump out direct in the great lakes. Thanks...

    Adding a holding tank in a 1989 23 Gulfstream

Head and fuel smell Thanks. I plan on attacking the lines today. The whole reason I found them was the strong smell of fuel. It has an I/O, even when I open the engine box I could still smell it. So I went ahead and pulled the decking over the tanks. Still not sure why I am smelling it so bad...

    Adding a holding tank in a 1989 23 Gulfstream

Hello, This is going to be my new favorite site!!! Has anyone done this? I just purchased the boat and it has a head but unfortunatly pumps over the side. Just wondering if anyone ever added one. Also, is it common to have to replace fuel fill lines? Thanks for all the help.
