    1996 272 Sailfish running F 225’s

I had a 1998 sailfish with 2004 f225 yamahas. Had issues with corrosion & repowered with the f200 4 bangers, Absolutely same performance when propped right. My 98 had the full running hull. i ended up propping with merc enertias 15 x 15 3 blade which was a good match after trying several other...

I.D on Macerator Pump for 2000 Sailfish

Mine is Groco & also froze up but I took it apart, lubed it and it still working years later. Make sure to operate it every month. Replacement is expensive & many grady owners have converted it over to an exterior macerator

    Ficht props

what is your prop pitch now? wide open rpms? I ran a 25 hydrasport with a pair of Johnson 175 2 strokes & this was propped with 4 blade stainless omc renegade 14.25 x 19" props. I sold the boat but still have these props if they would work with your setup.

Need to replace throttle cables ?

What I did in the past assuming the inside cable broke is to remove the both ends leaving the exterior as a future snake for the new cable. measure the length of the interior cable.

    LED Bulbs for Spreader Lights

Led lights are the way to go. I want to let everyone know to make sure you change the fuse to a lesser amp as the leds draw almost nothing. I had switched my halogens to leds and after 2 years I had a light go bad-fireworks in the light-. The manufacturer had asked me if I changed the original...

Can you plane GW sailfish 282 or marlin on one F225hp engine

Re: Can you plane GW sailfish 282 or marlin on one F225hp en My 98 sailfish with prior f225's 4 strokes could not plane on 1, wot was about 4400 rpm, 1 engine tilted out. Way too much stress at this rpm. If anything would happen to 1, I would take my time at 8 knots off plane.

    Repower Question

Also, my bottom paint was 10 seasons worth of built up ablative in which I plan to strip this season-hull was kinda rough underneath. The holding plane rpms with the f200's is 3300-3400 which gets me 20-22 mph which is planning for this hull. the f22s's with 17m props was very similar rpms...

    Repower Question

dry weight hull only 5500 no engines per grady specs, the 98 hull is the full hull under transom. I have a lot of gear on board full canvas up. The props are reliance 17" sds. Honestly the jump up on plane between the f225 & new f200's are minimal. I had a lot of questions & concerns also about...

    Repower Question

Sorry for the late response, these numbers based on motors mounted on hole 2 & end of season. I plan to raise motors one notch & strip bottom paint this year. My numbers are as follows, 3500 rpm 11gph, 22-23mph-just above planing speed. 4000 rpms 15gph 29mph, 4500 rpms 19.5gph 33mph, wot...

    Repower Question

Max hp is 450. I have this hull which had been repowered with f225 yamahas but I just repowered her with a pair of f200 i4's. Would have loved a pair of the f250's but that poses an issue with over powering & insurance issues.

    Prop sizing for 282 sailfish

My 98 sailfish repowered with f225s also had the 19 inch yammie props which were too tall. I swapped to yammie 17' and these turned close to 6000 wot which was perfect. I had these 17 inch props cupped a bit more lowering my wot around 5800-5900 with increased mid range mpgs. I just repowered...

Did you consider a Yamaha f200 4 cyl, similar weight to the ox66 & linkages should be the same saving the cost of new controls

Fuel Tank overflow when filling GW Sailfish 272 1998

the vents are internal to the fill, there is no external through hull vent at least not on my 1998. When I approach full, the vent spills back into the fuel fill tube.

    F250 Rebuild Labor Hours

Not sure on a rebuild but a factory new short block is around 5 grand, swapping all other parts from one block to another is about another 3 grand or so. I had this done on one of my f225's a few years back

    Opinion, Yamaha F200 4s on a 272 sailfish

I just want to update this post, This past weekend, I had the pleasure of riding in a grady white sailfish boat which was repowered with f200 i4 4s. The hull was 2001 & was previously powered with hpdi 200's. the boat is located on the Hudson river 1 hour north of nyc. I was impressed on the...

    330 Express Question

What i did with my sailfish was to disconnect the cable from the shifter & engine & pull out center leaving the outer shield for a snake, measured the inner cable for length & then used the outer shield to pull through the new cable. I also was not sure of the cable length.

    Opinion, Yamaha F200 4s on a 272 sailfish

Just a follow up, I did speak with a 2004 sailfish owner who repowered with new f200's. He had hpdi 200's on her prior. This new setup was better performance wise and he was able to net 2 mpgs. He noted i am welcome for a test ride this summer in which i plan to take him up on. Will keep you posted

    Opinion, Yamaha F200 4s on a 272 sailfish

I totally agree-, not looking for a speed boat but just want to make sure the power is enough to move this hull thru ocean swells. The F225's are more than adequate but looking at the pair of f200's and 250 lbs lighter on transom, got me thinking. I have to make a decision since my port f225...

    Opinion, Yamaha F200 4s on a 272 sailfish

I was wondering if anyone has considered the new yamaha 4 stroke 4 cyl f200 on a 1998 sailfish. Grady put the hpdi 200 on these hulls. Just wondering if the 4 bankers will have enough get up and go. Spoke with grady & bert wouldnt commit short of hanging on the back and trying.
