help deciding on which grady! (seafarer/overnighter)

Maybe I am missing something here, but if pricing is that high in your area, why are you not looking at boats further away? By rough math, you could buy a plane ticket, hire a surveyor, pay transportation costs and still save some money. I am not trying to sell you my boat, but it doesn't seem...

help deciding on which grady! (seafarer/overnighter)

Sure wish you would ride to SC and buy my boat. Boat prices are higher where you are for sure. I have a 91 228g, repowered with the F250 and could not be happier with it. I have yet to get water on the deck from scuppers too deep. Lots of negative talk about excessive weight for four stroke...

    228 cockpit scuppers

I had same problem with my 228. Replaced flappers on outside and no more trouble. My scuppers are ridin deeper now cause i upfitted from two to four stroke, but still no water on deck. Well worth the $15 and twenty minutes. If only all the other repairs were this easy.

    Kicker size for 228??

I have a 91 228g. I had a 15hp mariner and it would push the boat well if you were going with the wind. Into the wind bimini down it was difficult to hold steady course or any real speed. I was steering with main engine though, cause I have enough crap on my boat without a steering connector...

what h.p.2 repower seafarer outboard on bracket

Have a 91 grady 228g also, just finished repower with F250. Found good used one for good price and could not be happier. It jumps out of the hole now. I am not sure what everyone means by being butt heavy with the four stroke, I could tell no difference. I always kept my kicker moter on back...

ADVICE ON MOUTING A MERC 15HP KICKER ON A 232 GULFSTREAM

For what it is worth I have a 15hp mariner on my 91 228. I have the screw tightened so the kicker stays straight and I steer by turning the big motor. Works good trolling big water not a shoreline. My experience is if the wind is blowing doesnt matter if you can steer the kicker or not, just...

You guys are probably hating me at this point, but I was just on the Grady site. The new 228 is 510 lbs heaviers and two more inches of draft than my older hull. 200 hp is a standard. Now I am talkin cars but if you cant increase hp decrease weight. Top end is not affected near as much by...

    really need guidance

I really appreciate everyones advice on this thread. I talked to my buddy today who has a 05 Polar 2100 CC. Beam is 2" wider, drafts 4" deeper, and weigh 200-350lbs less than me. But he goes out fully loaded to fish with ice, beer, and people. By my math he is at capacity when fishing. Told...

OK I swear I am not trying to be difficult, I am just having trouble with my logic. Using Sullys numbers and my original post math, I am figuring that I will be 318lbs lighter with a 150 merc vs 200 yami and lose 28 hp. Riding higher in the water has to equate to hp somehow. No need to tell me...

Right now I have a 91 228g with a 92 200 evinrude. Motor runs fair at best. I really want to repower. I have been looking at yami 200 or 225 with quotes ranging from 21k to24k installed with new controls. I dont have that kind of money floating around, not to mention if I did spend it, my...

    228 repower or new admiral

The etec sounds good. Would the 200 be sufficient for my boat? Mine does struggle to get on plane when loaded ( full front tank, 4 adults two kids, all watersports gear, and frosty adult beverages) but I dont think my motor is 100%.

    228 repower or new admiral

I have a 91 228g w/ 200 evinrude. Love the boat. I would go anywhere in it, admiral wants to go nowhere in it. She hates the smoke and loudness. Is there a market for my running OB? How much is it worth? Where do I start looking for new? I guess 4 stroke. I do not plan on getting rid of...
