Transom is triple layered up just going to tab the edges and then the stringers will connect in

existing outside stringers that are staying are getting initial lay in with the foam board 1/2 laminated to sides of them and then some layers of on top. They will then be completely encased around the assembly with 1708.

new stringers will be (2) layers of 3/4 board (same as transom) completely encased in 1708 also.

bulkheads are 3/4 piece of foam board and will be completely glassed around also

the foam soaks resin up like crazy.
Im already 15 gallons in and 30 yards of material.

progress is slow but steady.. hopefully stringers/bulk/transom completely done by next Monday.

Shell be a tank when shes done

this weekend I think the cap is going to be done. - I'll get as many photos as I can of the old wood out, foam board in replacement. Hull is completed except the PVC plumbing which might be done this weekend or Monday. Tanks and brackets should be installed by Wednesday? So - if all goes well - we can get this thing put back into 1 solid piece by next Friday? that is the goal. then the wiring starts.

also, console is in final stages of gel coating, all holes patched up and re coated.

another 20 gallons of resin this week lol

rain is making for slow progress
drilled all the limber holes today in bulkheads/stringers
laid out rough console sketch
received 5 lumitec engine room lights to put in bilge, console, hatches.. excited for them
got the garmin 215 w / ais in
ordered the arctic white rub rail
ordered the rub rail nav light insert ..super clean looking
got some of the screwless rod holders
picked up kiwi grip kit for redoing non skid

finally laminating floor in cap .. again, rain really slowed us down

coal tar epoxy arriving tomorrow to coat the tanks

core sample of the bulkhead ... this stuff is so crazy strong. what is crazier is the stringers/transom is (2) 3/4 layers of the PVC board which is even stronger than this bulkhead foam board. crazy stuff.

Damn! That project is WAY above my pay grade. Doesn't look like you are taking any shortcuts. Hats off to you for taking the time and energy to bring this Grady back. She will be a great ride when all done.

Have you decided on a tuna door, looks like you are going back to a bracket.

I'll be following, best of luck!

Your ambition and results are impressive! Ive been watching over at THT. Keep it up!
I'm curious to know how difficult it was to pull the front cap. I would have expected it to be wet set with glass on the hull making it impossible to separate without cutting up the cap. What did you experience?

Will be a tuna door in the side of the boat. Was going to go transom but with adding the rear bench etc it does not fit there.

Thanks, Family Affair!! Cap was a piece of cake. Some of the foam from what was in the stringers was keeping it down, and some thu-bolts from where rear gunnels laid over cap. Once bolts pulled, rub rail removed, it was quick. Whole thing was about 2 hrs to remove. When it is re-laid, we will wet set with fiberglass putty.

haa! I wish! Tightening up some loose ends in the hull - running PVC, pouring new foam, glassing the foam, cutting holes and puttying them, adding some reinforcement to cap, coal tar the tanks, place tanks in place. HOPING that Friday we get to reconnect the hull and the cap. Trying very hard for that. Friday night I'll get some more pics and another update on here.

Thank you for the step by step, descriptions, materials, process, and detailed photos, Captain!

Have a 24 GW Offshore Pro 24. Will be replacing original fuel tanks sooner rather than later. Your’s were fabricated from stainless? Straight stick from the GW drawings or do you recommend any modifications?

Thank you! I admire your tackling the 24CC project head on as you have!

Great work. Way beyond what I personally want to have a hand in going forward. I just replaced my fuel tank in a 1993 Escape last winter. So I have a good idea of what kind of material bills you must have.. (And now I am looking around at 27-28 GW CCs.... go figure)

My tank drawings from GW were wrong!!! Had to change ground, fill, vent and sending unit locations as they would not have been under inspection ports...
