My Seafarer is a 1992 and is in great shape, but even though I have had no issues with the fuel tank, I plan on opening the floor up and inspecting, and or replacing the tank. I was wondering if anyone has replaced a fuel tank on one of these boats? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

a few of us have replaced tanks recently. its definitely easier on some boats than others. let us know what you find and how we can help

You can't really inspect a tank without taking it out of the boat. The serious corrosion in on the bottom of the tank. You can look at the sides and top but that rarely is where they leak. At 38 years old they are likely ready.

Replacement difficulty varies by model. I did my Islander a few years ago and documented it here on GG. It wasn't a simple swap.

Can you tell me where you got your fuel tank? The only place I have found is in South Florida and they want 800 dollars to ship.

My builder is SP Tanks in Clermonte, NJ. You will have a shipping expense problem with anyone. See if there are boat builders in your area. It may be worth a trip down to Steuart or the area around Miami to pick one up.

GW Customer Service may be able to send you an engineering drawing of your tank for a builder to follow. Most will just take your tank and copy it.

If you go thru the trouble of taking the tank out to inspect I would replace it and all thew hoses.

I think GW was having tanks built by a place in Florida. I can't read my old tank labels. You may be able to read yours or another GG member can give you the name.

I think this is them but they are in NC. Maybe moved closer to GW.
