I think if I ever need to replace my Garmin4208 I'll break down and get with the times...;)

Got more done today. Pulled the old 744 out. Installed the new b75m. Also had a new totalscan transducer that I never put in for the structure scan (I had the older version installed already). Pulled the wires through for that as well. Just need to plug them in and fill the old holes.. also got the gemlux hinges in so I filled one of the holes to redrill it. They’re like an 1/8” from the other ones. Should have that done tomorrow. Oh yeah she’s bottom painted too .

Thats in my future for a winter project. The B744 just started giving intermittent "Lost transducer connection". Plug end looks good. Going to try an ethernet cable in place of the Garmin network cable...it looks pretty sketchy.
I want to eventually replace the B744 with a 1k watt tranducer like a B260 to match up with the old Garmin GSD22

Are you going to put a totalscan thru hull in the place of the B744? Ive got a transom mount scan transducer with the Echo94

I put the B75m in for my ducer (opened up the old 744 hole) and when I'm togging i plan on using the totalscan (transom mount) just to help out with new structure. I wanted a 1k but I got the M for a good price and the budget was tight. My buddy has one on his 32 reg and raved about it. From reading it was the best for the dollar and what I plan on using it for from what some guys said on THT

I mounted my SonicHub2, NAC-1, and NMEA 2K tee on a piece of starboard cut to lie flat on the right-hand side of the bubble... Put some adhesive-backed rubber weather strip underneath to cushion and grip... Was going to screw the panel down, but not sure it's necessary... Intent was to minimize hole drilling into fiberglass floor inside the bubble...

finally got around to getting rid of those awful oval euro switches.
Got a panel made at newwiremarine.com. Changed some things and left some "acc" extras
fit in a third row but bottom row doesn't have breakers...will feed from fuse panel

That sure is nice, @SkunkBoat . Isn't is awesome.. new engines.. and then slowly transforming this "used boat" into a new fancy one? Every change just seems to bring it more back to life. Keep going.. heh... what are you shining up next?;)

I shall live vicariously through you for now.. heh

Is that panel the same dimensions as the original one?

yes, sort of... It does not have any angle to it like the original. It is a straight rectangle. uses same cutout. Using their "Panel Builder" it would not fit 5 switches across. So I made it 4 across and 3 rows.
I have the drawing somewhere...I'll post.

Getting ready to install an Airmar R199 "tub" and a Garmin GT51M-TH thruhull. The R199 is a 2kw shoot thru connecting to a GSD-24

R199 tub is going stbd side where an oil tank used to be. Cut the shelf out and ground down the hull. There were some air bubbles between the hull and the stringer tabbing.
This is going in with 5200 and maybe some epoxy puddy. It is really heavy so it needs a strong bond and it has to hold propylene glycol.

In this pic you see the centerline 2" hole from a removed B744. I will have to patch that and redrill a 1" hole for the GT51. Normally you would feather out the hole 12" x 1/2" deep but I have thru hull valves in the way and I'm going right over the patch with a bolted transducer. I'm going to do minimal taper inside and out, then span the area with a 1/4" flat fiberglass mounting "pad" inside & out ( like a homemade fairing). This "sandwich" with the transducer squeezing it will compensate for not doing the full feathered patch.

I can't decide the positioning of the GT51. A forward position would drill the new 1" hole thru existing hull...or I could position it further aft and drill the new 1" hole thru the 2" patch. Either way the patch is covered by the tranducer.

Edit:
Here is a full thread on the Shoot thru project.....Shoot-thru tub in 265express?

Hi Guys
I love the work and thread. Thank you so much for posting these details. I hope to add a bunch in the coming weeks. I bought a really nice 265x. It has basically not electronics so I am going to install a furuno suite. I will start a new thread when I do. I would like to ask, a few posts up Bac0701 installed a transducer. Do you think it would be ok to put two transducers in that same compartment, the second one in the same spot on the opposite side of the keel?

tks
