Looking to do the LP fuel pump delete on my Yamaha two strokes. Motors run great but I'm fed up with replacing the pumps. Has anyone done this on their 306 and if so where did you locate the electric fuel pump? Thanks.
It's on my list to probably do at some time - well, has been for about 7 or 8 years . Pretty straight forward job, too. Are you making block-off plates or purchasing? Or maybe just using the existing cover plates?
As far as where the pump goes - I would just put it somewhere accessible for you. Keep in mind that if you're using a style of pump similar to the commonly recommended Holley red pump, that style is better at pushing fuel than pulling - so an installation location closer to the tank and/or not too much higher than the tank is preferred.
i bought the block off plates and used a low pressure fuel pump from a new 4 stroke motor mounted on engine with a relay. works perfect. they say it might flood if trolling alot because on the newer ones the computer turns low pump on and off, so ive been told. but no issues and 2nd year running. was on 225hp ox66 on my 226
