What is the best calk to use at outboard bracket/hull interface?
I plan to use a church key to 'scrape' the old off, install new, and touch up the ablative bottom paint.
Thanks in advance.

I used 4200 based on feedback I saw on here.

Think there was a thread on the site last year with a couple of new 228 owners that were interested.

You are really just sealing the edge. There is a 5200 like material under the bracket itself. I would use something UV rated from 3m or boatlife.

This. Or, at least, this SHOULD BE just a cosmetic thing. The caulking you are planning on doing does NOT keep water out of the bracket or hull. Any halfway decent caulk is fine here. Personally, I like the Boatlife stuff - but that's not to take anything away from other brands.

EDIT: It does help to keep things cleaner, though, as it keeps dirt and crap from accumulating in there.

So its normal to have the little gap at the top of the bracket?
