Good evening.
I’m new to the group, and just picked up our new to us 2013 Grady White 208 Adventure today. We are very excited about this new chapter in our lives. I’m looking forward to sharing, and receiving feedback with the community. I received a welcome email, and it has a donation to opt out of the advertising, which I did donate. However, I am still receiving them. Not sure if I need to do something different, or click on a link? Anyway, looking forward to interacting with you all!
Thanks!

Welcome. Not sure about why you're still seeing ads. A modest donation should be all that is needed. You'll know it worked when under your name it will change from New Member to GreatGrady Captain.

Thanks for the info. It’s not a big issue. Was just curious if I was missing something.
Super excited about get the boat prepped for the upcoming season!

I see your out of Bainbridge Island. I’m north of you, on Camano Island. Looking forward to boating up to the, San Juan Islands this summer. Deception passes about a hour boat ride from here. Probably get out a couple times for some winter Dungeness crabbing, before the season ends at the end of the year. Thanks again for your time!

Welcome aboard and congrats on the new to you boat, is it the boat that was listed by Bayside Marine? Here's a post on the same topic from several months ago, of which if you donate $10 to the site and then message Seafarer228G, then they will remove the ads from your account. I've got a 228 Seafarer and have a small beach cabin on the southern end of Whidbey Island, glad to see some more users on here that are local. Good luck and maybe we'll see you out on the water. Post a few pictures when you get a chance.

To F&F on Camano and Mustang65 on South Whidbey, As some on this forum know, I'm new to the PNW -- moved here for retirement around the end of July. Have just 70 hours on the Gulfstream. I haven't ventured too far yet -- mostly traversing Puget Sound between Bainbridge Island and Seattle up to Jeff Head / Edmonds -- and circumnavigating BI once. The farthest north I've gone is only below the south end of Whidbey Island, with Justin Wong, a salmon charter captain out of Shilshole Bay I became friends with on prior vacations. Here's the video I made with Justin on my boat, fishing off Possession Point in September (caught all wild salmon, so all released from the net).

For the Spring/Summer 2026, my wife and I are going to start taking longer trips -- we're looking into BnBs for overnight stays. For starters, the dear wife has advised me that I want to take her to Orchard Kitchen at Langley.

We're having fun looking through the Waggoner Cruising Guide. We won't be on a schedule, just a budget, so the San Juans and Friday Harbor look realistic for the first exploration farther afield. (I'm sure that some boaters could open the throttle and get to Friday Harbor in half a day, but I'm not sure our old bones are ready for that. We could sleep aboard the Gulfstream in a pinch, but that's not our preference -- we didn't want a Ranger Tug, or a "boaterhome" lifestyle.)

Then the question will be whether we should keep going on from Friday Harbor, and if so how far? If around to Roche Harbor, then why not Victoria, Sidney, where? . . . , before returning from that first adventure. It probably will depend on the availability and expense of lodging so that we can enjoy stops along the way. Will be interesting finding out -- it's a good problem to have. :)

Welcome aboard... the fishing started off kind of slow for us this year in MA 9 on the southern part of Whidbey Island and then picked up like crazy throughout September. Had at least a half dozen kings, one of which was a very nice fish at just under 34" long. Then the humpies and silvers came in and it was on fire throughout the rest of the season. Humpies seemed to only like pink or white gear, the silvers were hitting on just about anything. Went out several mornings where we'd be putting one downrigger setup in the water and have a fish on before we could get the second one down to depth. Last time we went out, we didn't even bother using the second setup as every time we put the first one down, it wasn't more than a minute or two before we hooked up. Here's a picture of the king that we caught, which was just under 34" long, probably weighed around 17-18 lbs or so.

Nice catch. September was extra great and then it seemed to drop back off pretty quick. Looking forward to next year.

Hi to Michael / Skookum. Maybe on the return we can figure out a route past Port Townsend and dock at John Wayne's. View attachment 38373
That would be great! We could meet up in PT. Lots of good eats there.
Glad to hear that you are getting out and adding hours.
Regards, Michael

Sorry that we sidetracked this thread.
I'll bring it back to "donations"...
After procrastinating for a long time, I have just made a donation to help keep this forum going. I have learned a amazing amount from all of you and look forward to continuing to do so.
Thank you to all,
Regards, Michael

ps. I'll let you know how long it takes for the ads to stop.

Email Seafarer228G and let him know you've donated to the site. When I did, it was a matter of maybe a couple hours at most before the ads went bye bye.

Welcome - I will occasionally start receiving ads and the fix is to log in - for whatever reason my lap top will log me out after each visit - quick log in and ads disappear
